"Rust" assistant director Dave Halls was sentenced Friday after pleading no contest.
Halls entered a plea of no contest to the misdemeanor charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer accepted the plea. The prosecution requested a suspended sentence, which is a conviction.
Halls' attorney argued his sentence should be deferred. Lisa Torraco explained that Halls did not have control over how individual people handled safety on the set.

More like he'll be providing acting classes in Harlem.
I could not have said it better myself.
Even the prosecution only wanted a suspended sentance.
I don’t understand why no one here is being punished.
If anyone really does receive a strong penalty, it will probably be that young lady who was supposed to be the Armorer. Why her? Probably because ‘hollywood influence-wise’ she is the lowest on that totem pole.
Yep, coffee is for winners.
The assistant director?! But he didn’t point the weapon and pull the trigger!
Yep, She’s designated Fall Gal #2.
Arec Boldone can do no wrong.
I think what he meant was Baldwin to sentence if random words whiskey tango foxtrot period.
The Armorer’s one and only job is to make sure the weapons are all safe on the set.
Handing a loaded gun to Baldwin is her fault.
But Baldwin was the Producer. He fired on armorer crew and replaced them with this incompetent. I would really like to know more about that.
“I think he meant Baldwin will up the to walk under from too many lesser convictions.”
The sheer eloquence of your post has left me so breathless I’m getting dizzy!
Just another travesty of the Legal Court System.
Not on an Arec Baldwin Produced movie set.
There the Armorer’s one and only job is to be Fall Gal #2.
I think you have the story wrong. The woman apprentice-armorer was acting as the weapon property armorer on the set. There were safety complaints that were causing people and crew to leave the set in the 48 hours before the incident. She was complaining to Baldwin. and Baldwin relieved her from her duties.
The Assistant Director, that his article is about, is the guy that handed the prop gun to Baldwin. Baldwin as Producer had taken the armorer out of the loop poor to this rehearsal of a scene.
That is the way I understood it.
IMHO, Baldwin created a climate of jack-assery came back and bit him in the ass as weapons were being played with as toys after work.
She’s the one who kept such poor control over the armory that live rounds got mixed with dummy rounds. She and Baldwin should both do time.
Any bets on if Baldwin walks?
= = =
Walks
He’ll get a red-carpet, limo ride out.
Baldwin had the gun. Baldwin fired the gun . . .

There were some close up photos of the gun.
It looked like a zinc/or? molded gun, with some black coating that had chipped off.
Not like a real steel gun, blued, that had rubbed off.
So if the gun was kind of ‘fake’, it may have had safety issues, broken half-cock notches, etc.
Maybe that is how/why the FBI broke it in ‘testing’.
That does NOT excuse Baldwin from pointing and pulling trigger at a person!
It only adds to the cluster mix.
My keyboard is full of chip chips.
I was commenting on the safety aspect of Hollywood. I bet not a thing has happened other than the initial knee jerk reaction. If no one gets punished, its not illegal.
LOL!
However she did fail to take the one action she could have, she DID NOT declare the set unsafe, immediately report it to the Sheriff, and resign.
The youngster made a bad choice, but Baldwin was the root cause.
