Chicago — A CTA customer service agent beat a 54-year-old man for an hour at the LaSalle Blue Line station, then tossed him down two flights of stairs like “garbage,” prosecutors said. The victim, a 54-year-old man traveling with a wheelchair, died at the scene.
Emmett Richardson, 39, must pay a $300,000 bail deposit to be released on electronic monitoring, said Judge Barbara Dawkins during a Tuesday afternoon bail hearing.
His supervisor told police that Richardson, a CTA employee for about two years, had been verbally warned twice in the past ten months about his attitude and treatment of customers.

FWIW, CTA station agent is a decent paying union job.
That’s what I call some serious “up close and personal customer service.”
Would this be an equity employed person....
He murders a disabled person and gets a fine and goes home?.................WTH?..................
That was certainly customer service, not good customer service, but customer service, none the less.
He really needs to get out of jail so he can get back to work. The citizens of Chicago need him. At least he has a job.
A hard habit to break.
No rational, decent person needs convincing that urban America is unlivable.
More like a Customer Tune Up...Chicago style.
Yes, the CTA should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and his behavior seen on the video shows someome with no humanity left in him.
Yet, we should also judge as guilty Chicago policies that have made the transit system and O’Hare airport into homeless camps.
I can't find any video.... (?)
No surprise.
Your link no longer works - at least it didn’t for me.
Wonder if it’s been taken down?
Was this a racial crime?
Dear God!!! I just read the entire article. He beat him again and again and tossed and dragged the man in the wheelchair around multiple times. This was brutality worthy of Nazi death camp guards.
Union thug scum bag.
Scott Adams said something about this, didn’t he?
Time for written counseling.
Kevin Powell typically rode the trains throughout the night, then got his two meals at Matthew House, 3722 S. Indiana Ave.
After returning several times to pour bottles of water on Powell, Richardson propped him up, repeatedly punched him and then pushed him down another set of stairs, according to Scaduto , who said Powell was left “essentially motionless.”
Will any homeless advocates come forward? They certainly do when homeless encampments are dismantled or homeless are told to move on - when we complain about homeless, they are right there calling us "heartless."
It reads like an incident report of torture. I almost wish I had not read it. The deceased was a Homeless guy, pushing his property around in that wheelchair.
He slept on a bench around 1am. Around 3am, the guilty party comes up to the Homeless guy, starts yelling at him, throwing his property around.
It just gets worse and worse from there.
Note to self...”Never return to Chicago”.
