IMPORTANT REPORTS FROM VICKSBURGH

VICKSBURGH, Wednesday, March 25.

Two of the enemy's gunboats attempted to pass down the river this morning, when our batteries opened upon them with effect. One was sunk opposite our batteries. The other was badly riddled, and now lies opposite the canal batteries. It is expected that the latter will be sunk. She was set on fire, and it appears to have been extinguished. The firing of our batteries was splendid. Almost every shot took effect.

The following was received this morning from Gen. STEVENSON:

"Four boats came to the turn at Sunrise this morning. Two of them attempted to pass our batteries. One was sunk with all on board, and the other lies at the mouth of the canal, apparently disabled.
