Had a weird email from Ebay this weekend.
I have (or had?) an ebay account, I have not used it in years.
This weekend I received an email saying my account was permanently banned because I had done some sort of 'promoting hate'
Considering that I have not been on eBay site for many years I can only assume they were referring to some post I made on some OTHER site.
I am pretty vocal about how I think liberalism, and especially this 'trans' business is a mental disease.
So, is eBay trolling other sites to check my social score?
Did some butthurt liberal take objection to something I wrote elsewhere and decide to look up anything with my email address and get me banned? did they 'report' me to EBAY and ebay acted on it?
If I was relying on that site for actual income I would be very unhappy. Since I don't actually even remember having an account there it does not bother me much.
Is EBAY just cancelling any people who are not liberal? Is EBAY a 'liberals only' site?
I just now checked my eBay account (logged in with no problem.) I use it on and off (last time was a couple months ago.)
I am not fighting to resume business... I am trying to spread the word:
EBAY IS BANNING CONSERVATIVES.
I still have an account but I quit selling on eBay years ago. It was no longer profitable. Charges were something like 3% when I started and I think it was up to 15%, plus postal charges skyrocketed it was stupid I just do consignments now locally it actually works out okay.
I heard Reverb was about the same, I tried selling some stuff on Facebook once locally and it actually sold and I had great success on Craigslist but news reports of weirdness with sales on Craiglist srarted happening so I don’t do Craigslist now either.
I have a couple of nephews and Roanoke Virginia and they told me their sheriff’s department has a Craigslist parking lot for people who want to meet buyers/sellers in a safe place and it’s right next to the Sheriff’s Office. I thought that was a great idea.
Did you post on Twitter and Facebook under your real name?
E-bay has been contacting their customers to verify their accounts. Lots of cyber attacks going on. I think yours was from the scammers.
Yes, because I am not afraid of the truth
DEI departments have been stimulated by federal actions.
That is unquestionable.
Absent research for which I have better time to expend on OTHER things, I’d put $$ on the table that there’s an ‘AI-based’ platform which links usernames/accounts/emails/phone etc. with certain keywords to facilitate woke corporations’ DEI goals.
And I bet that your email - rather than spam - was the result.
I also have an ebay account which I haven’t used in years. I just attempted to log in to check it: They’ve deleted my account, so who knows. No skin off my back.
Well, if you have logged in, are you really banned? I would think they would block your account.
Are you able to buy something?
By any chance was your dormant account hijacked?
I ran across his video a few days ago, it describes in detail a scam worked through a hijacked account.

Sounds like an email phishing scam. Ignore.

Trying to look into that with eBay now.
When (and if) I get a response I will post it.
I have not interacted with that account in years, so if there was recent activity that would explain something.
[Yes, because I am not afraid of the truth]
Did it have a link to click on? Links in these spam emails or texts often lead to malicious malware that do all sorts of bad things. Most of the time, I can spot junk email and texts just from the title and send it to Junk or block it without even opening.
Let's say though that it's from a business that I actively deal with. Most of time, I will not click on a link in the email/text (ex. bank, insurance, etc.) and go to the website manually and log in.
Cell phones, laptops and desktops can all be protected with antivirus, VPN and security browsers. Typically a paid subscription to the VPN and antivirus includes in the license coverage for something something like 5 devices.
My VPN as an example, also includes in its settings the option to extend its reach beyond my protected device to the router itself. As long as my VPN protected device is connected to the router, every device on the router on down is protected.
Sounds like a third party phishing scam. Did they ask for your account information to “reinstate” you?
Phishing email to get you to reply, giving the perp some information.
I have not used ebay in a while. I just logged in and all is well with my ebay account.
You say you haven’t used ebay in years. At some point ebay will likely delete accounts due to inactivity.
You get this seemingly legit email and then try to log in to ebay and it denies access not because of some hate speech but due to inactivity?
Just a thought.
Check the email headers aka technical info. There’s a lot of spoofing of ebay email going on and always has been.
