Had a weird email from Ebay this weekend.
I have (or had?) an ebay account, I have not used it in years.
This weekend I received an email saying my account was permanently banned because I had done some sort of 'promoting hate'
Considering that I have not been on eBay site for many years I can only assume they were referring to some post I made on some OTHER site.
I am pretty vocal about how I think liberalism, and especially this 'trans' business is a mental disease.
So, is eBay trolling other sites to check my social score?
Did some butthurt liberal take objection to something I wrote elsewhere and decide to look up anything with my email address and get me banned? did they 'report' me to EBAY and ebay acted on it?
If I was relying on that site for actual income I would be very unhappy. Since I don't actually even remember having an account there it does not bother me much.
Is EBAY just cancelling any people who are not liberal? Is EBAY a 'liberals only' site?
In the 1990s I used webtv which allowed you to do basic web tasks without owning a computer.
They got bought by Microsoft and then shut down by Microsoft.
However, Microsoft let us “old timers” keep our @webtv.net email addresses.
As a result I get hilarious emails telling me that my webtv account password has expired, or my webtv account is about to shut down, my webtv server is having technical difficulties etc...
Bwahahahahahaha.
I wouldn’t click anywhere on the email, because that could be a spoof.
Go to Ebay directly and check your account if you need any sort of verification. Yes, Big Tech is slowly corralling out those they don’t approve of.
I’ve used eBay significantly over the last several months to round out two retired dish sets...a Pfaltzgraff set and a Nikko Christmas set. I’m not shy about lambasting the Left on various sites, so maybe my eBay time is coming to an end. But so far...nothing. Is there a PayPal acct attached to your eBay acct? PayPal was on the prowl recently for those dastardly right-wingers.
My guess? Somebody’s phishing for your info.
I should have added- it is NOT a scam email trying to get me to log into a fake site or something, I checked it out.
I went to the eBay official site on my own and logged in the correct way. It was a real.
I am a computer systems engineer, for a living... I know what I am doing.
Probably a scam
PHISHING!!!!!
I wouldn’t respond to a likely fishing attempt. But in my case, every leftist would agree that I “promote hate.” I read the Bible, I go to church, and I contribute to FreeRepublic Freepathons!
This is a phishing scam, trying to get you to login using a link in the email, where they will then steal your user name and password.
Ignore it.
Don’t get fooled again
That email could be a phishing scam, an effort to get your account information. Go DIRECTLY to eBay, not using the email link, and you may find everything is ok. Check the email address to see if it actually came from eBay. I have seen fakes like this before. Wifey got one allegedly from PayPal (it wasn’t). She clicked on it and it put malware on her computer. The cursor would move by itself and attempt to access one of her accounts. Had to buy a new PC as a result.
Phishing scam.
ignore it...I use eBay almost daily and I have not seen anything similar. phishing scams are really bad the past few weeks and even my text messages are now being targeted.
I find all sorts of email that look like they’re from a known company but have an unrelated email address to the company they are supposedly sent from.
Yeah
If you were permanently banned, how could you log in?
Probably fake email.
Can you still log in to Ebay? That should not be the case if you are banned/suspended.
I have sold a lot of paintings on eBay. My frustration with it is they do not allow me to mention my website or let me see the emails of people who have bought my paintings.
It is a Phishing attack. They are trying to get you to give them your account information so they can steal your money!
I’ve been getting the same messages recently allegedly from Amazon and Netflix. Delete immediately!
I should have added that I checked it out with eBay site itself. That was my first thought too.
It’s not a phishing email. That account is permanently banned.
Phishing is more like “you’ve been suspended until you log back in with —>this link” (a fake link)
This was more like “you’re banned forever” with no link to try to log in.
This was a real email, from eBay (I know how to check email header and other info- I do this for a living), and yes that account is banned.
So... since this was not phishing, is eBay going out and checking your social score now?
I use the ‘RULES’ section of my email app and filter out these scammer using key words that they use, like ‘Amazon’ or ‘locked’ or others and send them straight to trash upon receipt so I never even see them.................
