Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm; - Life isn't always fair; - And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, -by his parents, Truth and Trust, -by his wife, Discretion, -by his daughter, Responsibility, -and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 6 stepchildren; - I Know My Rights - I Want It Now - Someone Else Is To Blame - I'm A Victim - Pay me for Doing Nothing - It’s my body, my choice.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.
So DAMN TRUE!
BTTT
Common Sense and his twin Horse Sense both died almost at the same day and time.
R.I.P.
Amen
The coroner is a lawyer.
Well said.
Yep. Finding relics in art to be pornography like David and firing the teacher has gone a bit far. I agree common sense is dead.
But their younger and less responsible brother “Non” lives on.
Yep..having govt involved in your business. in your bedroom and in your body . I agree...common sense is dead.
It’s hard to say exactly when he died, but Nov 4, 2020 is a good bet.
/\
Did not die a natural death.
It and it’s sibling
rule of law
was dragged , pun intended,
out behind the grade school,
forced to their knees next to a shallow ditch ,
and shot in the head, around 2008.
There is no headstone,
only mourners.
Jmho
The younger generation is so far gone, that even the style in which this is written will be incomprehensible to many.
November 4, 2008, you mean.
Our society, what is left of it, has become a ranting schizophrenic mess. On one hand, we have the vulgar and demonic possession of the ‘trans’ world, ‘drag shows’ for children, and similarly inspired Super Bowl halftime ‘shows’. On the other, a wild overreaction to classic Western art. David is a nude statue, rendered perfectly and masterfully by one of the finest artists Western Culture has ever produced. Used to be that people understood that, and that nudity doesn’t aways convey a sexual message. Our collective mind is mush.
Well done. Many thanks for posting. BTTT
“that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.”
I also thought this was ridiculous. Had the opportunity to speak with a lawyer who was very familiar with the case. This woman suffered third degree burns, was hospitalized for a period of time and required skin grafts. It was not just a little coffee, it did extensive and permanent damage. There is NO reason for coffee to be this hot, a lot of other issues came out in the case but the bottom line was negligence on the part of the defendant.
McDonalds counter-offered $800 and so the case went to court.
Third degree burns at nearly 80 years old on 20% of her body. Over a week in the hospital. Many more weeks of pain. This woman was more than justified in her claim.
Classic example of a lie traveling around the world while the truth is still gettting its pants on.
True enough but this is the umpteenth anniversary of the death. The headstone has lichen growing on it by now.
Not to quibble, but common sense died a very long time ago.
