Norman Steinberg, the co-writer of the Mel Brooks-fronted comedy “Blazing Saddles” and an Emmy winner for Flip Wilson’s 1970s variety show, has died. He was 83.
Deadline reported Wednesday that Steinberg’s family said he died March 15, but did not provide further details.
The Post has contacted a rep for Steinberg for comment. “It’s a sad day when Norman Steinberg leaves us. From BLAZING SADDLES to MY FAVORITE YEAR, he was one of the best writers I ever worked with,” Brooks, 96, tweeted Wednesday.

Too late.
Figured as much. I guess the woke cable cutters have missed out on all the Great streaming services, and programming. Their loss.
Aw damn, Mel’s at it again! Parking fee for a funeral? Somebody go back and get a crapload of dimes.
“Hang on while I whip this out.”
In the director’s commentary on one of the anniversary editions of the movie Mel addresses this. “People are always saying YOU COULDN’T MAKE THIS MOVIE TODAY, and they’re right. We couldn’t make this movie back THEN either! The studio was CONSTANTLY trying to cancel us.”
I’m with you. Too crude for my taste. Just not funny.
One of my favorite movies!
‘’Our women have been stampeded and our cattle raped!’’.
“Now you’re all lolly gaggin’ around like it’s a hundred and twenty!
“Can’t be more ‘n’ a hundred and fourteen!’’.
Y’all are jumpin’ around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots!
Lili Von Shtupp: “Tell me, schatze, is it twue what they say about the way you people are gifted? Oh, it’s twue. It’s twue. It’s twue. It’s twue!”
Cult classic. Could never make a movie like that anymore. Has anyone seen it on TV lately or has it been pulled from being showed.
LOL!. “Boss we hit quicksand. Should we send in a couple of horses?
“Heck no! Send in a couple of n****rs!’’
A hilariously funny movie, one of my favorites.
Thanks for the ping. You'd do it for Randolph Scott....RANDOLPH SCOTT!
Here's a Laurel.... and Hardy handshake...
