No. you have to learn hos to say an NG on the beginning of a word. Most non Southeast Asians can’t figure it out at all.
But the considerations are a bit different when China is being talked about. The CCP wants opportunities for its citizens and even “ex-citizens” here even if it doesn’t extend the same to foreigners there.
I’m not religious. but reading you experiences brought tears to my eye. There is till good in the world, but it is being suppressed. C’mon, Freepers, let us try harder,
any comment from the Wu?
Indeed. Quincy has been transformed. But, for the better? I think not. I lived in Wollaston in the 90s. Any chinaman with a shopping bag of cash can do what they want in that city. Look at the crater that was once the Wollaston Theater.
Formula for success Practicef by Most Asians (with few exceptions)
- strong Family values, follow parent advice, strong commitment
- Focus on education, knowledge and skills (to help break all barriers, rather than play political cards to break barriers)
- Avoid pop-culture, party and drug habits
- strong study and work ethics
- Taking Responsibility and engage in self-improvement - not blame game or politics
- Support system at family and community level - helping eeach other
One to add to your list: I have heard of Asian immigrants living on 20% of their (modest) income, saving 80%.
True. Their eating and living lifestyle is frugal, which allows them to quickly build up savings and capital even out of low paying jobs. That helps in making wise investments or start up small businesses. Whole family pitches in to make success possible
Im guessing you havent been through Quincy lately. I lived in Wollaston in the 90s….Fenno Street. Still live here. “Better or worse” is all relative. I know the murder rate is low and my home value is up about 300% since i bought my house in Houghs Neck 2000. Wollaston and NQ is full of robust Asian businesses that bring cultural diversity and pay their taxes and dont beg for handouts. Roxbury was once upper class Jewish folks and now… well…. You can are things can always go the other depending on who is moving in. I worry more about the homeless and junkies tbh.
“I don’t care if every seat is taken by an Asian, if they’ve earned the right to be there.” - Then California Governor Ronald Reagan
Oh for Petes sake
Common for centuries. You think the Italians polish and Jews and checks had their names pronounced correctly?
Change it to Nancy Hughs and be done with it.
