Well it was the Beatles or Rolling Stones in 1966, a garage band from LA, made it to the charts.

I vaguely recall hearing this back in the day. My YT feed suggested the following after hearing it:

I have been enjoying your music related posts.

Good luck writing this catchy song today. Listen to modern music, and you have these whiny voices and lyrics. And then there’s the female vocalists!!

I read somewhere fairly soon songs will be generated by AI.

Here is a
live version of the song, videotaped at a pier in Southern California.
Watch for the seagull at the 1:22 mark. The seagull is dead now but it did have one shining moment of glory.

Similar theme, different take on the subject:
Does Your Mother Know.
Best ABBA song I've ever heard. Just heard it for the first time a few days ago. Drummer is fantastic.

They played that on Boss Radio 93 KHJ, my go-to station for Top 40 in the summer of ‘66.

I have always loved this song.

Hell yeah-—The Real Don Steel — with the BOSS 30! Remember the Original Hey Joe By KHJ’s own The Leaves!

I put this on at night when I go to sleep, and it takes me right back to my childhood. I’ve gained a real appreciation for the songs of that era.
