Spam your leftist garbage somewhere else.
Whether Bush II lied or not (he lied) is not the most important thing. Here are two things that are more important
One, the Constitution requires a declaration of war. UN resolutions mean nothing. As do Congressional “authorizations”. If Bush II wanted a war, he should have been man enough to go before Congress and ask for a declaration of war.
Of course Bush II was not the first president to act like a king, and go to war on his own. But he and LBJ are the worst. They can both go to hell for all the misery they caused.
And two, Bush II’s invasion of Iraq was a “preventative war”. It was waged to prevent Saddam from maybe doing something bad in the future. Well, the Japanese also started a preventative war, on December 7, 1941. Preventive wars are immoral.
Personally, I believe we should’ve disposed Saddam Hussein during the 1990-1991 gulf war.
You are courageous here, Mike.
Over the years Conservative populism has joined in the use of Leftist cliches to describe the invasion in terms that were really not applicable.
” restore international peace and security in the area”
Will they do Chicongo next?
One of Bush's major mistakes was his refusal to defend himself from any criticism, even when it was easy. The left was pushing "Bush lied people died", when in fact chemical munitions, hundreds of thousands of documents were found related to Saddam weapon's programs. How about the 500 tons of Uranium yellowcake shipped form Iraq to Canada in 2008 (CNN)? Even if it was known, Saddam refused to give it up and was was not supposed to have any it. No matter what was found, the left and the news kept moving the goal post.
At the time I understood why the Bush administration was keeping quiet about what they were finding. There was a war going on. Saddam loyalists, Al Queda, Iran and Islamic groups were all over Iraq. It was not a good time to put on display what was being found, although Bush could and should have given out some information and evidence to counter the left and fight back against the press.
The U.S. should ever go to war at the behest of the United Nations? FR should not be a place for anyone to come and spout such nonsense.
Dusting off and recycling old DNC talking points, I see.
We went through this all during the mid-2000s here...why repeat this nonsense?
On a related note, I’ll just mention this:
Iraq removes uranium left over from Saddam era (7/7/2008)
FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow (10/17/2017)
Contrary to ongoing reports by mainstream media outlets, WMDs have been found in Iraq, so reports New York Times best-selling author Richard Miniter in his new book, Disinformation.Disinformation is out of print, however there are still copies for sale at Amazon (buyer beware of scammers!) and electronic versions around.Consider these shocking facts:
⢠Found: 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium
⢠Found: 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons
⢠Found: Roadside bomb loaded with sarin gas
⢠Found: 1,000 radioactive materials--ideal for radioactive dirty bombs
⢠Found: 17 chemical warheads--some containing cyclosarin, a nerve agent five times more powerful than sarin
This is only a partial list of the deadly weapons Miniter reveals in his new book, Disinformation. Miniter systematically dissects the "No-WMD Myth" (how it started, and why it continues), as well as 21 other War-on-Terror myths perpetuated by the media.
The intelligence revealed in Disinformation is vital. The publisher (Regnery, a sister company of HUMAN EVENTS) has agreed to send you one key chapter--free. Simply indicate below to which email address you want the chapter sent and you will receive it in a matter of minutes.
