Disgraced pop star Gary Glitter reportedly had a £15,000 ($18k) knee operation in an NHS hospital - as hundreds of patients face a four-month wait for the same procedure.
The convicted paedophile, 78, is understood to have been given his own room protected by prison staff at Dorset County Hospital in November last year.
Glitter is said to have left NHS staff feeling disgusted with gruesome stories about his offending and his 'pervy' antics in the hospital.
He spent five nights at the hospital, where he is said to have been handcuffed to a bed and had two guards around him. He was serving his prison sentence at nearby HMP The Verne at the time.
A source told The Sun: 'Glitter seemed to come straight in and had a room waiting for him.
'It was all arranged in advance, although we didn’t know how long he had waited for the op in prison.'
They added: No one could believe the treatment he was getting and he seemed to revel in the attention.
'While he was there, Glitter was very chatty and cheerful — and over-friendly. He asked quite a lot of questions about the staff, especially the younger female ones.
'He took a shine to one young, female nurse who was quite attractive and it made her feel sick. He also spoke quite a lot about going abroad, and said what a great time he had in Cambodia and Vietnam. There was no shred of remorse about what he had done.'

This is nothing. I used to do death penalty defense work in Oklahoma. I have a former client on death row who received a hip replacement while on death row, and while on death row awaiting his execution, he developed cancer and the state paid for surgeries, chemo and other procedures to beat the cancer so he will be healthy when and if we execute him.

I’m more interested in how ANYONE can get an $18,000 knee operation.
Pure insanity isn’t it. Look at the traitor who should have been executed for treason Bradley Manning, they paid for his sex change and then B. Hussein commutes his sentence and then he is released. The largest security breach in US military history, and not only was he not executed, we had to pay for his perversions and then he’s released.
Build prisons. Give every inmate a score based on the severity of their crimes. Like golf or running, a high score is bad. When a new person arrives, you have to make room for the new person by getting rid of the high score.....via a box.
The criminal justice system just isn’t efficient. Act like animals, then get eliminated like animals. You could eventually be executed for crimes like dealing drugs.
Right now criminals have no real fear of prison. They get taken care of and don’t have to take any real responsibility for much of anything.
Gary Glitter had a sweet deal in Việt Nam with his own estate. The authorities were paid off handsomely so he did not have to worry about his visa running out but then his sexual proclivity took hold and he didn’t or couldn’t pay off enough people enough money to make that go away so spent some time in prison there before being deported.
I suppose the health care for death row prisoners is to protect their health up to the moment of execution. Most die of old age, unfortunately. I expect for a lot of the criminal population the best thing that ever happened to their life expectancy was in incarceration.
I recall another case in which an incarcerated illegal alien received a heart/lung/liver transplant. This, after a teenage girl was denied the organs because they thought her chances of survival were poor. I get the protocols. But if you’re in prison, and in the country illegally, too bad, so sad....you’re denied.

My parents are both 80 and have bad knees. Part of the reason they won’t get operations is the cost. One was a teacher for a career and the other a Secretary. Worked hard and never broke the law.

If a pervie ends up in jail and the other (non pervie) inmates decide to make his remaining life as miserable as he has made his victims; I am in favor of that.
So, if the pervie is seriously injured, go ahead an fix him up AND SEND HIM RIGHT BACK TO HIS “FRIENDS”IN PRISON. Reboot and send him back to hospital.
Keep this up until he decides to end it all.
