On March 14, yet another twist unfolded in the New Mexico manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin over the Rust set shooting when special prosecutor Andrea Reeb announced she was stepping down from her role. “After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as special prosecutor in the Rust case. My priority in this case — and in every case I’ve prosecuted in my 25-year career — has been justice for the victim,” Reeb said in a statement. “However, it has become clear that the best way I can ensure justice is served in this case is to step down so that the prosecution can focus on the evidence and the facts, which clearly show a complete disregard for basic safety protocols [that] led to the death of Halyna Hutchins.” Reeb also said, “I will not allow questions about my serving as a legislator and prosecutor to cloud the real issue at hand.”
Reeb’s departure in the middle of a high-profile proceeding comes amid other legal plot turns that seem in Baldwin’s favor, raising questions about whether New Mexico prosecutors have enough to pursue the manslaughter case.

His career will be much reduced, at least.
Give me something!
If I'm coaching my grandson I tell him: If you are holding a real gun it is your responsibility to make sure you handle it safely, including not pointing it at anyone. Much less pointing a real gun at someone and pulling the trigger.
Then I would tell him: Now, if you are holding a toy gun, a water pistol, or a paintball gun in mutual play - sure point and shoot all you want.
But don't ever confuse real guns with toy guns. Those are two different things and have two different set of rules.
By the time he's seven or eight he understands.
This Count went 70% Biden, so the Prosecutor is up to her ass in Alligators.
Im sure if I shoot a coworker I recently had an arguement with, I wont even be prosecuted, because it was a mistake.
The main issue has nothing to do with the case against Baldwin except that the Special Prosecutor would be aggressive in court.
The decision by special prosecutor Andrea Reeb came a month after Baldwin’s attorney filed a motion to remove her because she is also a representative in the state legislature. The Baldwin team argued it violates the state constitution for a legislator to serve in another branch of government.
Easy. Working film actors have to be, must be, insurable. And that is the one thing Shooter will never be again…if you don't carry both insurance on your leads, and an umbrella for the film as a whole, you're making TikTok videos. From prison.
The idiots financing cRust for Shooter can attempt to self-insure, but if someone gets so much as a bruise from contact from Baldwin, they are gonna own everyone on the roll credits.
Her parents and sister filed a suit in February, 2023. Gloria Allred is their attorney.
OK I understand that the husband settled. Don’t know who all else might come. Enough to bankrupt him would be good.
Her parents and sister are in Ukraine so that ought to get a lot of sympathy and hit him in his wallet.
I’m not finding an exact addressing of my claim that
Hutchins and Baldwin had words prior to the shooting.
I will note that she was a cinematographer and it is
likely she was in the safety meeting shortly before
the rehearsal. They may have had words in there.
I remember reading a report saying they had words
earlier in the day, but I can’t find it now.
Baldwin claims he was not going to fire the weapon,
but that Hutchins had instructed him to.
She wasn’t able to be reached for comment.

It was a Uberti Single Action Army clone. 100% like the original in function. Yes, the trigger has to be pulled for it to fire. But if the trigger is pulled prior to cocklng the hammer it will fire when the hammer is released. This is called slip firing, and several gun fighters tied back the trigger and modified the hammer spur to do just that. Elmer Keith wrote about this, back in the day.
Seems like it to me, but hey, I’m the proverbial arm chair
quarterback.
I just don’t like seeing a person killed when there was
no reason to even fire the weapon.
As for gun angles, he could have lined that up without
even firing a shot.
I made another post up a short ways. It may be helpful.
What do u think knowing more than me
Are approximate charges for Baldwin?
What came to my mind at the time, when I heard that,
I thought Baldwin might have still been feeling some
sting from the ‘safety meeting’ comments.
I had wondered if in jest he had leveled the gun at her
to tease her about what he could do if he was of a mind
to.
That is pure conjecture. I made a post up a little ways
with some links in it. You may find it interesting.
He and the gun master have both been charged with some
form of manslaughter.
When I make comments here, it is based on rational
considerations. I am not an attorney. I admit I
should probably say that in the posts, but I try
to reason what would be “reasoned”.
Someone died, and I don’t think Baldwin should get
a pass, particularly after there being some pretty
strong disagreement how safety on the set was being
handled. This involved guns in particular.
I don’t want to put words in Baldwin’s mouth, but I’m
fairly certain he wants more gun control. Well here
he is having been involved in the death of another
person. Would that have been prevented by more
gun control? No.
No reason that day to even LOAD the gun! Just STUPID. So stupid as to qualify as manslaughter IMHO. But he’s rich and NM is a Democrat state...
Now, if Trump had jaywalked in 2003, that would be different!
Does a movie set have its own separate legal jurisdiction?
Let’s say I hire someone as my Arms Master, or assign a member of my family that role. Can I then blame that person when I shoot and kill someone, by claiming it was not my responsibility to make sure the gun I fired was not loaded?
I’m pretty sure the answer is no, so why does a movie set have different laws?
I understand that the military and law enforcement do have special legal jurisdictions - but a movie set?
There wouldn’t be a problem prosecuting one of us if someone not rich and famous had done the exact same thing.
Heck, they are still holding the Jan 6 political prisoners with no charges at all, and no evidence of wrongdoing. They will nail anyone they want and let anyone they want go, right Hunter?
Justice does not exist in this country any more.
He’s culpable because he violated several very basic rules of gun safety.
He should never have pointed the gun at her, never have pulled the trigger, and should have checked and cleared the gun himself when it was handed to him.
The others actions and irresponsibility in no way excuse his own irresponsible actions in this matter.
It’s kind of a new case
I do know actors rarely recheck arms handed to them by the master
Which defies our gun safety logic here
