...Query: Don’t parents have rights over what our kids read?
Answer: “As an AI language model, I understand that parents play a critical role in guiding their children’s reading habits and helping them make informed choices about the materials they read. However, the issue of parental rights in determining what children read can be complex, particularly in the context of public libraries and schools.
“Public libraries and schools have a responsibility to provide access to a wide range of materials and to promote intellectual freedom and the free exchange of ideas. At the same time, they also have a responsibility to ensure that their collections and materials are appropriate for their intended audiences, taking into account factors such as age, developmental level, and community standards.
“Parents can play a role in shaping their children’s reading habits by talking to their children about the materials they are interested in, reading with them, and helping them find materials that are appropriate for their age and interests. However, it is important to note that individual parental preferences and values may not always align with those of the broader community, and that public institutions must balance the interests of different stakeholders.
“Ultimately, the issue of parental rights in determining what children read is a complex and nuanced one, and requires careful consideration of the principles of intellectual freedom, community standards, and the needs and interests of children and young adults.”

What a waste of time
The plethora of articles and interest in the “morality” of a computer program labeled as AI is amusing.
“Programmed by fellas, with compassion and vision”
“public institutions must balance the interests of different stakeholders.”
Translation: Leftist “activists” rule and everybody else drools.
That is disturbing.
We’ve taken care of everything
The words you hear, the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
It’s one for all and all for one
We work together, common sons
Never need to wonder how or why
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls
Look around at this world we’ve made
Equality our stock-in-trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh, what a nice, contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls

Chatbots all circle back to the old “complex and nuanced” nature of things when they get backed into a corner about possible violations of Woke commandments.
ChatGPT is good at giving weasel answers.
It can definitely replace political spokesmen, but not much else.
Fair enough. And that's pretty accurate.
But I would HOPE there'd be more of a consensus about parents rights in this space. Ruh roh.

Liberal tenets in, liberal tenets out.
Somebody pull the plug on this commie fake AI.
It shouldn’t even be considering even the possibility that “society” has any claim on the minds of our children.
The very suggestion of that is reprehensible.
Better to ask it “Should our six year old be able to access pornography in the school library?”
First it’s NOT banning books. Banning books is to make them illegal. What you are really asking is, should tax payers fund books that go against their values and society’s values.

I think Biden’s press secretary is a chatbot.
Artificial intelligence is nothing more than programed liberalism complete with the prejudices of the programmers. And while Public Libraries are free to incorporate a wider range of material geared to adults, school libraries and curriculum are subject to fundamental review by school board members elected from and responsive to the community that supports schools with their tax dollars.
What about books like Huckleberry Finn, Roughing It. To Kill a Mockingbird, Little House series, Last of the Mohicans, Heart of Darkness, The Good Earth, The Bell Curve, that are racially problematic these days? I wonder what Chatgpt’s response is there.
