Yes has postponed the European leg of the 2023 Relayer Tour for very topical reasons: The band was unable to properly insure the dates against absences due to COVID or an act of war.
"The insurance industry has withdrawn all such insurances which made touring possible pre-COVID and before the Ukraine conflict," Yes said in an official statement. "There have always been calculated risk assessments to consider when touring and Yes has unfailingly paid a premium to cover against terrorism, in addition to conventional cancellation risks."
Among the impacted dates is Yes' stop at Eventim Apollo in London, which has been canceled. Tickets are now being refunded. All other shows are to be rescheduled in 2024, with new dates to be confirmed soon. Currently held tickets will remain valid.
Yes was able to absorb additional costs for a U.K. tour in 2022, the statement added, but now the band "simply cannot undertake such a large-scale tour with so many risks being uninsured."
The hope is that they can return to Europe next year, "with confirmations of normality in ’24 following representations to the insurance industry to reassess its attitudes to COVID and Act of War insurance," the group said.
Meanwhile, Yes is expressing "sincere regrets to their faithful fans and ask for their understanding. The band has now received the necessary assurances for 2024 and are committed to returning to the stage then."
That sucks for Europe. I am hoping to get tickets for my birthday to see them next month in Reading, PA. Steve Howe isn’t with the band, but they should still be good to see.
Steve Howe is certainly with the band now, they just recorded a new album. Jon Anderson is gone and Chris Squire and Alan White have passed on. Howe is still kicking.
I saw the “going for the one” tour. It was pretty good. I saw the entire band in the round several years later and walked out.
I have their past albums. Don’t think I need anything more. Nor do I think I want anything more.
No respect for them...
He’s not with this tour, at least when I checked several weeks ago when the Reading date was announced. I hope I’m wrong.
Anderson, Wakeman and Rabin are playing and depending on which site you look at there is a different name for the group. That’s okay with me, although I’d really like to see Howe. The last time I saw *Yes* (air quotes) it was in Mt View, Ca. I was on the road working. That was Anderson, Buford, Wakeman, Howe and the name which they played under. For all intensive purposes it was Yes since that was the music they played . I think it was billed as “An evening of Yes music.” That was back in ‘89 if I recall correctly. I am well over due to see them before more member pass away.
No Squire, no Yes. Full stop.
Yes says, “No!”
Link to concert archive - pretty cool
Like you, there's just something special about that one band member. Chris

That’s a good pick. I absolutely love Yes, must have seen them 30+ times, in various incarnations. It took time to appreciate Relayer. I thought Soon was a solo effort by Jon Anderson. ‘Going For The One’ was a great follow up with the haunting ‘Awaken’.
But what was really neat was their later albums, 90125, ‘Big Generator’, Talk, ‘The Ladder’, and my favorite, Magnification with a full orchestra.
I found a live version of Soon with Steve Howe on slide guitar w/ orchestra. Relayer features Steve a lot, ‘The Gates of Delirium.’

We saw ARW in 2016 and 2018. They played everything, old and new, spot on.
The band was unable to properly insure the dates against absences due to COVID .....
But, but.....they’ve all been jabbed! What’s with the FRAUDci/china virus absences???
