I’ve found that if you head to bed around 10:00 and fall to sleep around 11:00, and then wake up and move from that bed at around 2:00 a.m. to one of the guest rooms downstairs until around 5:00, then get up to drink a cup of coffee before finally falling asleep again on the sofa at around 7:30, you can manage to put together about 5 or 6 hours of sleep per night. It has to be carefully managed though.
What is your experience?
I did not click the link, but:
side sleeping can over the years increase hip ITband issues, shoulder, neck and chest issues due to rounding/curling arm positions, many people tuck chin toward chest again over years can contribute to problems. ALSO leg positions while side sleeping can mess with lower spine over years.
Stomach sleeping also means head turned to one side which again messes with posture and can lead to problems. Also lead lower back pain due to sway back of spine unsupported. Leg positions, same as above.
Back sleeping is the most neutral for the body if you dont have your neck too high on pillows, but as original post mentions not best for some internal conditions.
Sleep is always best after the husband and wife do the 1st Corinthians 7:5 with each other.

That's some medical journal. Or whatever.
I sleep in whatever position the sliver of the bed the 120 lb wrecking ball of a dog leaves me allows me. Sometimes I can even get enough blankets to cover myself.
For me, used to be on my back with a woman laying across me.
Now? By myself at the ranch on a stuffed cotton mattress, locked away from the world.

So many of us have trouble sleeping...I suspect it is because we know more and worry more, especially if we have children/grandchildren for whom we would like a life like we have known - free, peaceful and prosperous.
I’ve taken to listening to health/nutrition videos on YouTube to fall asleep, that or rainstorms. Can’t listen to anything political because it just agitates me.
But seriously as you get older you sleep in the position that will let you wake up with the least amount of pain. And that will change all though the night for me.
First you need a mattress that does not sag!
I spent a lot of money on a mattress and within 4 months there was a depression. Cannot return unless it is 1.5” or more. Almost there. 1.3”. That little bit makes the bed uncomfortable.
I will never buy a pillowtop again or have a spring wire foundation. Before it was always a tight top and a wood slat foundation.
I have inserted a 1” thick memory form cutout that is now between the foundation and mattress that even things out for the most part. Read up on the issue and you find the sellers know all about which brands are the worst and they blame the types of foam used. You can get memory form toppers for like $25 for a twin size at Walmarts website that you can then cut up to fill in the “divot” !
Sounds like staying awake all night is the way to go
I’ve got lower back pain, sleep on my side. Need thick pillows.
We’ve got a Temperpedic bed, and it is awesome!

in 90s there use-to-be 100% cotton (”futon”) mattresses.
Where to buy a 100% cotton mattress now?
Side sleepers: Cross your arms in front of your chest so that the shoulder that is down is the arm that’s against your chest. Your thumbs should be on either side of your lower jaw. This pose will cause your (down side) elbow to stabilize your side resting position and the sides of your thumbs will stabilize the position of your head for best breathing. Most people find that it is quite comfortable. HTH.
I found sleeping in a recliner provides the best sleep. Been doing it for at least 5 years maybe longer. Tried many different mattresses over the years and always woke up with an aching back and stuffed up head. The recliner fixed all that.
Sprawled on the floor next to ten or twenty empties doesn’t make the cut, huh?
This is not necessarily correct at all. I have lower back problems and sleeping on my back is terrible for me.
