Banksy mural on abandoned UK farmhouse destroyed in building demolition
NY Post ^ | March 16, 2023 | David Propper

The mural, dubbed “Morning is Broken,” appeared on the side of the building and depicted a young boy opening corrugated metal curtains alongside a cat.

But the piece was short-lived and became history along with the dilapidated building in the seaside town of Herne Bay in Kent, according to the BBC

The anonymous artist confirmed he created the mural in a post shared with his 12 million followers Wednesday.

One of the Instagram photos shows the artwork was a casualty of demolition work on the abandoned building that had ivy growing on it and white paint peeling from it.

Why do these so-called graffiti ‘artists’ think everybody’s private property is their canvas?

They are too cheap to buy canvas?

They have no respect for other peoples’ property?

To me, it’s vandalism masquerading as art.............

It has simply been replaced by new art. “Building is Broken”.

Rather you like it banksy art or not it seems pretty stupid to have destroyed it seeing how many of his saved pieces have sold in the 10 to 20+ million dollar range.

How do you sell it? Is the owner not able to make full use of his property because it’s a Banksy? Will someone someday prevent him from demolishing a deathtrap because of it’s “historic value.”

Banksy operates in a legal grey space. It’s a good thing for legal grey spaces to exist.

Wildly overrated!
It’s an example of intrinsic value; where an assumption of value is placed upon it and enough people agree with that assumption to sustain the said worth for a long time.

Who ever owned the land is beating himself up as I doubt he will make as much from the houses he builds as he would from the sell of the banksy

Maybe true, but if someone is willing to give you millions for what you consider Graffiti do you take the money and run to the bank or do you trash it?

Seems like free advertising to me. Banksy picks specific places to create the “masterpieces” knowing they will be destroyed.

Sounds like the building owner is going to have grounds for a serious law suit or insurance settlement?
