This doesn’t hit the spot with me. Kids are the ones who beg me to take them to Applebees’. Same for Olivegarden. Otherwise you wouldn’t catch me dead in either place.
My experience also. I assumed it was just our local Applebees that sucked. The waitress brought me a water by carrying it in her armpit. Never been back.

I had a college sports team coach who did something similar. A poor performance from the team would get us dinner at, say, a chain steak restaurant like Bonanza.
Yes, there’s a meme about Applebees being terrible that’s been going on for years now. It’s stupid; Applebees is a successful enough restaurant chain, it’s at least as good as many other places that don’t get slammed as much.
Agreed. I gambled and tried their Wagyu burger (a la carte) a few months back (hungry/convenient/lazy); total waste of time. I don’t understand how they’re still in business.
And if you’re really bad, we are taking you to Old Country Buffet…
I don’t get it either. Most of the chains in the same genre are oversalted and overpriced for what you get. I don’t think I had visited an Applebees in at least 8 years but I do recall that, like many other chains, the server either doesn’t know or doesn’t care that a ‘pint’ is a measure of volume rather than a glass style. If you ask for a ‘pint’ you will get at most a 14 ounce glass.
