It’s odd to me to have a pear dessert national day in March when pears are in season from late Summer through the Fall.

It’s a global economy now.

Fresh fruits are shipped from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere and then when the seasons change, the other way around..............

Exactly what I was going to write - odd to have a pear day when pears are not in season.

We get wonderful pears in California and I often stop by fruit stands when I am traveling in the northern part of the state in the fall: family favorites are Bosc and Asian pears which are eaten hard, like an apple, but have a wonderful pear flavor.
