Exactly what I was going to write - odd to have a pear day when pears are not in season.
We get wonderful pears in California and I often stop by fruit stands when I am traveling in the northern part of the state in the fall: family favorites are Bosc and Asian pears which are eaten hard, like an apple, but have a wonderful pear flavor.
I also like the Anjou pears. So juicy!
I’ve had the Asian pears a time or two in cooking. They have a nice flavor and texture.
