JACKSONVILLE, Fla β The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper with 22 years of experience in Duval County on Friday after buying drugs from an undercover operative, according to federal court filings.
Joshua Earrey, who was also assigned to a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force, was arrested on charges of being an βunlawful user or addict of controlled substances in possession of a firearm,β the filings said.

Duuuuval!
π
Is it a federal crime to be addicted to something and have a gun?
I wonder how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars were spent to bust a drug addict...
Great use of government funds there Elmer....
Why is the FBI busting drug users? Must have been wearing a Trump button and a MAGA hat.................
Only if you are not related to FJB.
“The cooperating defendant told law enforcement that Earrey became addicted to oxycodone for back pain.”
Unfortunate if true.
Working with the DEA I guess
Medically retire him. Treatment for addiction .
Well with 22 years in he should be able to retire.
Sorry but the harsh reality is that many local, state and Federal law enforcement personnel are corrupt. The FBI agents may not be stealing apples but they are being well paid beyond their pay grade doing the dirty jobs. Many are free lancers and not particular who pays them.
I have heard it said that oxycodone is as addictive as heroin. I think Rush had this problem as have other well-known individuals. You can get hooked on it almost immediately. Medical centers have now set up ‘pain management’ offices to police doctors’ prescribing practices for this drug and other addictive drugs.
Yes Rush did. I remember listening to him live and callers were asking him why he was slurring his speach and he completely denied it.
Wasn’t long after he shared on air he had an addiction.
Assuming the FIB isn’t lying, his sentence should be double that of a normal citizen’s because he’s a cop, and double again because he’s a drug cop. He has presumably put many people away for doing exactly what he also did, under color of authority.
It’s also possible that the FIB is lying, though.
I present as evidence: The Biden Crime Family.
For the moment I am going to wonder if the alleged perp was actually doing an investigation. And the FBI is the guilty party here.
But the facts might make me see things differently.
I’m retired LE and I’ve seen this played out a number of times. Why people in LE think they can get away with criminal activity is beyond me. They, of all people, should know better. Apparently some think they’re too smart to get caught.
I’ve heard it said that a cop going to jail is serious bad juju......lawyers too for that matter.
I do have to wonder though if the person that turned the trooper in is only throwing him under the bus to get out of a jam they are in with law enforcement themselves.
Having spent 22 years seeing zero accountability for egregious behavior by fellow co-workers who received “professional courtesies” that are somehow never extended to Joe Taxpayer, maybe he expected to get away with it.
