Best Picture WILL WIN: Everything Everywhere All at Once
A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once is the likeliest winner, having swept the guilds’ top honors, including the Producers Guild’s, which is decided on a preferential ballot, and also won Critics Choice and Spirit Award prizes, among many others. But the Academy’s preferential ballot wouldn’t seem to favor such a polarizing film — many Academy members love it, but many others found it incomprehensible — so an upset could come from German-language All Quiet on the Western Front, which dominated at the BAFTA Awards (indicating strong European support) and would be Netflix’s first-ever winner in this category, or Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, a critical and commercial triumph that helped to revive theatrical moviegoing. — Scott Feinberg
SHOULD WIN: The Banshees of Inisherin
My heart beats strongest for this two-man civil war tragicomedy, which shows a new maturity and depth of feeling from Martin McDonagh. It assembles a peerless ensemble, each of them etching finely drawn character portraits, not to mention scene-stealer Jenny, the miniature donkey. Todd Field’s caustic reflection on abuse of power, Tár, would be another deserving winner. — David Rooney

“Oscars 2023: Who Will Win, Who Should Win”
more importantly, who gives a shite?
On The Count Of Three, 1-2-3, WHO GIVES A SH!T!
The most important Oscars question is:
Who cares?
Cara Delevingne
i am not watching but seeing hugh grant getting razzed on twitter for being a jerk.
Me too.
Will say In Bruges made me want to go visit Bruges.
Who will win.
Who should win.
Who effin cares?
The only one I will watch when gets to streaming for ‘free’ is “All Quiet on the Western Front”. Nothing else looks good to me.
That is Carla Delevingne. A model, not great actress, British, aristocratic family. Just a few months ago was pictured drugged out & then went to rehab. She was a Chanel muse. She certainly looks beautiful here. Don’t get excited, she’s a lesbian ; )
Zzzzz
Cara
Who cares?
this guy is in line for a best dressed for men. dont know who he is

I don't care about the Oscars (or other awards) either, in and of themselves. They are primarily a form of advertising. But I do pay attention to the nominations list simply as a screening device.
I started logging my films a couple of years ago. (Letterboxd is good for this.) Over that time, I've averaged just over one movie a week. Since I watch virtually no tv (aside from occasional sporting events), that's pretty much all of my viewing. I think I've only watched two series (both short) through to completion in that time period; I've started a few more, but I rarely last more than a couple or three episodes.
The problem is, more movies are being produced than ever before in order to serve the streamers' 24/7/365 demand for new content. Most of them are mediocre. Some are actively bad. A few are quite good. The question is how to find the good ones. This gets even trickier because, as Hollywood continues to self-destruct, more and more of the good films are coming from abroad. (Korean films especially have quite a following on FR.) And since the big legacy studios have been rolled by the activists and live in fear of the DEI commissars, I find that more and more of the good films that I really like are small indie films. Many of them are surprisingly cheap, and the DEI committees can't touch a writer/director team of one.
I read reviews. I scan the selection lists for major festivals. I pay a bit of attention to the nominations for major awards. They are not important in and of themselves, but at least they are lists prepared by people who watch far more films than I ever will. That's a place to start. I'll scan the list and, if a film catches my eye, I'll read a couple of reviews and watch the trailer.
Once this becomes a habit, it doesn't take long. It's just a matter of building a bit of situational awareness, and I find that with just a bit of due diligence, I rarely sit down to watch a film that I don't enjoy. (If I'm watching at home, I'm quick to turn off the occasional dud.)
So: how do YOU pick a movie or show to watch? I'd rather be an active consumer than default to the streamers' algorithms . How do you do it?
I used to be such a movie fanatic, but I’ve completely slacked off. Interested in getting back to the theater. I have not seen any of the movies up for an Oscar. I so want to see Banshee’s. I will say that Cate Blanchett just leaves me cold. I think the Asian woman will win, just based on what I’ve read.
You are correct🤣🤣I may have read that her family did an intervention. Man, she needed it!
The ONLY movie I watched and liked a lot this year, was not in the theaters.
But it was very well made……The English..( Emily Blunt & Chaske Spenser)
