Best Picture WILL WIN: Everything Everywhere All at Once
A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once is the likeliest winner, having swept the guilds’ top honors, including the Producers Guild’s, which is decided on a preferential ballot, and also won Critics Choice and Spirit Award prizes, among many others. But the Academy’s preferential ballot wouldn’t seem to favor such a polarizing film — many Academy members love it, but many others found it incomprehensible — so an upset could come from German-language All Quiet on the Western Front, which dominated at the BAFTA Awards (indicating strong European support) and would be Netflix’s first-ever winner in this category, or Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, a critical and commercial triumph that helped to revive theatrical moviegoing. — Scott Feinberg
SHOULD WIN: The Banshees of Inisherin
My heart beats strongest for this two-man civil war tragicomedy, which shows a new maturity and depth of feeling from Martin McDonagh. It assembles a peerless ensemble, each of them etching finely drawn character portraits, not to mention scene-stealer Jenny, the miniature donkey. Todd Field’s caustic reflection on abuse of power, Tár, would be another deserving winner. — David Rooney

“she’s a lesbian”
GACK...a “lipstick lesbo.” How very sad.
Funny story. I was bicycling home from work in late 1978 and stopped in a dive bar I’d passed by many times. It was called “Daybreak” in Mountain View, California. Walked in and quickly realized it was all women in there! I thought I’d died and gone to heaven! Being rather wet behind the ears, I had no clue what was going on there. I was disappointed that not a single one of the gals was interested in me. Then it slowly dawned on me that they were interested in each other, not the guy who walked in. LOL. I can’t remember if I had a beer or just walked out. They sure did not look like Carla. They all looked like they just off the ship-building shift driving hot rivets all day.
Gorgeous dress! She can really sing, too, all genres.
LOL...Lily had class in a league of her own. “I’m tired, so tired” way before Hillary.
Thank you.
Yeah, I saw that neither finger nails or toenails were done. How could you NOT do that with such an elegant dress. That struck me as weird. I think the tats got me and I didn’t notice how bad the toenails were.
this was bugging me so I enlarged the pic. Her nails are definitely manicured with fake nails.
But the toes are not. And the second toe looks really weird.
So she at least made an effort with the hands. If you cant do your toe nails for some reason you could at least wear closed toe shoes
Who ever told him he looked Fabulous was not his friend.
Watching Jiminy Kimmel regurgitate bull crap is something I really don’t want to do.
I did see Elvis, Banshees, and Tar. Banshees took a long time to get going but it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t really a big picture, the kind of picture that used to get the top Oscar. Maybe All Quiet is. I didn’t see it but I want to.
I didn’t see Everything Everywhere, but from what I’ve heard it seems like the usual woke fodder. They should probably give Best Actress to Cate Blanchett for Tar. The picture was uneven, but that’s the kind of role the Academy likes.
Maybe Harvey lost a Superbowl bet or something.
All Quiet on the Western Front just won for Best Cinematography.
