Commodore PORTER has proclaimed that any parties firing on unarmed vessels shall be hanged; also, persons burning cotton or levying contributions.
The National gunboats are making great destruction on Lake Providence.

The Federals attacked VAN DORN March 1, at Thompson's, near Franklin. He drove them back, and captured 2,200 officers and men. The rebel loss is not yet reported.
