I grew up in Queens, left in 1974. College Point was "Catholic", mostly Irish and Italian, and very safe, a great neighborhood. My Irish Catholic grandfather grew up in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, which was a slum by the time I was born. Sad to see what has happened to New York City.
