Two were shot dead.
Two others were kidnapped for several days.
“ The U.S. State Department warns Americans not to travel to Tamaulipas due to organized crime and kidnapping.”
Maybe they were illiterate? They weren’t really that cheap or dumb were they
“get a medical procedure”
That’s very sad.
Going to Mexico, is not exactly on my bucket list.
They were cheap. I can spend two weeks in Mexico to get dentures and stay in a very nice hotel for a cheaper price than the same service in America.
However, I would not go to Mexico to save some money on some needed service, for this reason.
I wouldn’t say they were illiterate. If I watched the MSM news, all of them, I doubt that I could form an accurate representation of just how dangerous it is to go to Mexico.
I read they were going for tummy tucks.
I am very sorry they were kidnapped, murdered, tormented.
But if the story just reads “medical procedure” you think how sad they needed a hip replacement or cancer treatment. So no they were at least not suffering from that need.
I have saved a couple links about medical treatment in Mexico just in case but don’t know that I will ever need them. If I do I’d get concierge service, fly in and all that.
The girl was going for a tummy tuck which was far cheaper in Mexico!!!
My guess...
The cartels thought they were drug buyers.
They kidnapped two to hold for ransom.
They killed two to show they were not joking around.
The ones that were killed were male, so I’m guessing they tried to fight their way to an escape, maybe to let the females have a chance to leave.
If I wanted to have a medical prodecure done, I’d go to Spain. It’s almost as cheap and much safer than Mexico or the Philippines even.
Spain +++
But the Philippines is also very safe if you are an American, and not, say, a local politician.
Murdered for a vanity operation. Would have been a lot cheaper to go to the gym.
I am confident about the Philippines that I can be out and about during the daytime. I’ve been there twice, for a total stay of 4 weeks. I’ve even gotten lost a couple of times in Manila in some of the slums. You just keep moving.
However, at night, since I’ve never been there out and about at night, I would not be confident about going to the bars or anything at night. I recommend you go to where you are staying and stay there once it goes past 6pm or 7pm.
Back in college, I made a several trips down to Zihuatanejo and Puerto Escondido, sometimes by bus and sometimes making the drive. One late night, not too far out of Acapulco, the Federales pulled over our bus, ordered all the men off the bus and searched our bags. As they searched my bag, I handed the Federale twenty bucks.
They found something they did not like in a bag belonging to a Mexican citizen and right in front of us, beat him with nightsticks until he was not moving.
As we watched, at least one buddy of mine peed his pants, we all got back on the bus to Zihuatanejo.
Also, don’t owe drug money to anybody.
That’s where all the videos of people being openly shot in the Philippines come from.
Medical procedures in Spain...
Interesting - I never would have thought about that.
Last year I clicked on a business ad about getting permanent legal residence in Switzerland.
Apparently, expatriates are a major industry in Switzerland, because I am still getting emails about it.
Mom told the woman not to go due to the danger. Mom was right.
Border towns are dangerous. I quit going to Tijuana/Rosarita Beach over a decade ago because it was too risky. I did recently return from Cabo. Sitting on the sunny beach watching Humpback Whales play in the Sea of Cortez while I sipped a cold beverage was a nice break from the cold and rain.
Seriously anyone actually believes 3 guys went to Mexico with a woman so she could have a tummy tuck? I could possibly see 3 women accompanying another woman for plastic surgery, but I’m not buying what they are selling. I’ve got a great deal on land 80 miles west of Tampa for you if you swallow this tale.
Truly a sad affair
Awful
A lot of people go to Mexico for cheap procedures not just cosmetic
I would have suggested Monterrey or Mexico City by air
