Specifically, tracked certified units sold as of February 2023. In terms of what constitutes a "rock" album, we went with consensus and inclusion of sub-genres of the "rock" category, such as hard rock/heavy metal, pop rock, soft rock, and folk rock.

It should certainly be a separate category. 25 best selling greatest hits albums would be a fun list. Lumping them in together makes the list less interesting.
Springsteen should not be on any list expect one for people who cannot sing.
Plus he’s wizzing on the American Flag on the cover.
Thanks!
Simon and Garfunkel is “rock”? Awful wide definition there....
Or Carole King?
Too many collections.
Yeah, It’s called a ONE HIT Wonder!
There’s several in there that don’t qualify IMO.
Carol King and Micheal jackson??? 🤔
Not on my R&R radar......and never has been.
IMHO, I don’t think greatest hits albums should be counted in a list about greatest “Albums” of all time. Why? Because an Album is a work created by an Artist at a specific period of time as a reflection of their art.
Greatest Hits Albums shouldn’t count.
I’m not even sure Alanis Morissette qualifies.
Elvis should be on the list!!!!
MEAT LOAF...Jim Steinman masterpiece! I love that album. Listened to it last weekend while working on the car, and played it again after it finished. Genius. Todd Rundgren never played better, and he did it all with single-takes, including the “motocycle” solo.
How about what constitutes an "Album"? Is it a piece of work created by an artist as a reflection of work at a certain period of time or is it any combination of singles and album tracks grouped together by record companies trying to make money?
