It was a very unwelcome house call.
A Florida man was attacked by an alligator after opening his front door Saturday night, according to a report.
Daytona Beach resident Scott Hollingsworth told WESH that he heard a noise outside his home around 9:42 p.m., and when he stepped outside, “something grabbed me on the leg, started shaking violently.”
He added that he didn’t turn on a light, so he didn’t get a good look at his assailant, but told the station that he initially thought it was a dog.
“I stepped back into the house and closed the door,” Hollingsworth said.
When he looked down, he saw that he “had a large gash in the side of my leg.”
The homeowner, who planned to attend this week’s Bike Week, required surgery for his injury and told WESH that “everything’s going well” — but he “probably won’t be biking anytime soon.”

This Florida Man at least gets points for being intrepid. Even if he went thereafter more or less the way of every other Florida Man in history.
People. It’s what’s for dinner
I live in Florida, you get used to it.
More than a mere 'Florida Man' story... this is a 'Florida Alligator' news story.
Watch out for them gators!
“I live in Florida, you get used to it”.
I never did get use to injury surgeries, but then I don’t live in Florida.
*Knock knock*
Who’s there?
*CHOMP!*
Yes but Florida Man, true to his nature, goes to investigate a noise at night without turning on a light. It was only a matter of time before Florida Alligator matched wits with him.
Even worse than having an alligator fly through the drive in window at you.
The alligator was “dispatched” during the “On Patrol Live” broadcast Saturday night.
“Candygram!”
Never eaten one, but hear they taste pretty good. Not to mention the many uses of their skin . . .
Nevermind 😏
“Never eaten one, but hear they taste pretty good.”
Only the alligator tail is eaten. I usually see it, on you tube cut into chunks. Breaded and deep fried. Though I see some people grilling it

It’s not favorite despite the glorification
Tough chicken slightly reptilian
Crispy well cooked frog legs better
Well prepared rattlesnake is it’s equal or better in my opinion as a gator eater from way back since I’m from gator country
Reptiles are a more delicate cook than fowl or cloven meats
Maybe. I don’t think I’d be comfortable swimming or water-skiing in a Florida lake ever again. I’m not sure even about tubing in a river. It seems to me that that alligator population is out of control now.
