Buddy of mine bought a table for the Lincoln Reagan Dinner at the George R. Brown convention center. I almost blew it off as I'm so sick of FNC giving RD airtime and banning DJT, but decided to do a little due diligence.
He spoke for 30 minutes without a teleprompter. Good delivery, lots of red meat, pretty fired up. Crowd of 800 or so pretty laid back. Lots of pretty GOP women I have to say.
Not a single mention of Ukraine, which I see as the defining difference between RD and DJT. Ron's going to fall in line with Mitch and lose to PDJT in spectacular fashion in the primaries. But he'll end up as Trump's VP.
Just my humble opinion.
I was a huge supporter of Trump on here up until Covid hit. He went full NY liberal on us, and hasn’t recovered since. A good southern governor would be a great change for the party, and our country.
COVID was a no win situation for Trump.
COVID came like Manna From Heaven for the Democrats, Trump was cruising to re-election before it.
“ That’s what I think. They’ll be on the same ticket”
Never.
Trump backed RDS for Fla gov. Trump asked RDS to endorse him for prez. Rds told him to hand it on the wall
Imagine GOP nominee running without the fla gov endorsement
You know, what is interesting is people say trump picked bad people to run things. People who turned on him. Now he’s saying I don’t like this guy who turned on me and, just because RDS hasn’t worked for trump and really messed things up for him yet, people say trump should give him a chance
What?
RDS will never be loyal to trump.
People say trump is a bad sport here. How?
Trump asked RDS to return an endorsement rds said no
In what world is that not RDS turning on trump? His is trump ever to trust him?
You’re probably right, but Reagan and Bush went at each other pretty hard in the 1980 primary.
There's a strong case that you are just plain perpetually ignorant, bEagle. Trump rejected RJC money to their faces at Adelson's AIPAC on Dec. 3, 2015. Meanwhile, Adelson had already met with Tedlim in November of 2014, and "hosted a lunch for Cruz later with about a dozen of some of the country's biggest Jewish donors".
On January 19, 2016, in an interview with The Brody File, future President Trump said “I am for that one hundred percent. We are for that 100%...” (after Brody noted the) move of the embassy to Jerusalem is a “tier-A issue for Evangelicals as it relates to support for Israel.”
Adelson at that point had not met with anyone the way he met with Cruz, and did not endorse future President Trump until he won the nomination in May of 2016.
It didn't have a damn thing to do with Adelson, it had to do with doing what was right! If you are any kind of Christian, Jerusalem is the capital of Israel: once, always, future!
President Trump, as is Stephen Miller's way, explained how the history of the recognition was long overdue, and not anything to do with a donor, and not anything to do with your dumb l0ser, auto-flaming, self-pwning Freeptard "opinion", bEagle:
"In 1995, Congress adopted the Jerusalem Embassy Act, urging the federal government to relocate the American embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize that that city — and so importantly — is Israel’s capital. This act passed Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan majority and was reaffirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate only six months ago." -- President Donald J. Trump
Covid was a difficult situation, but he handled it just like a NY liberal would have. He turned what was going to be a bad flu season into the worst economic disaster since WW2, with all the EO’s giving out free rent, free college loans, ventilators that killed everyone and are now being turned into scrap metal, turning military boats into hospitals that sat empty, rushing through “vaccines” that they knew didn’t stop the spread and had killed all the lab animals, etc.
The CDC was already admitting by spring 2020 the actual covid death rate was less than 0.5%. He should have left it to the states, and it would have been over in half the time or less, and without the financial disaster.
New estimate by CDC reduces COVID-19 death rate to just 0.26% from WHO’s 3.4%
Sun 24 May 2020
For the first time, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has given a realistic estimate of the overall death rate for COVID-19, which in its most likely scenario is 0.26 %. They estimate a 0.4 % fatality rate among the symptomatic cases. If you consider their projection that 35% of all infected cases remain asymptomatic, the overall infection fatality rate (IFR) drops to just 0.26 %. This is almost exactly what the Stanford researchers had projected in April 2020.
Nope. VP Youngkin flips VA. But bringing VA into Trump's electoral fold completely shuts off the Democrats in 2024.
Under a VA-goes-red scenario, the Democrats could have a best-case scenario in 2024, keep WI/MI/PA, and still LOSE: 275-263.
It's unreal what flipping VA does to limit the Democrats chances -- go to 270towin.com and take the 2020 map (where Obama's Army simply needed to fraudulently generate 313,253 votes spread over 6 states, an EASY task). Flip VA/GA/AZ. Trump/Youngkin 275-263 over HeelsUp/SecyF@g.
A leading question from a reporter is hardly a firm policy. It was years later before anything happened, even with Adelson offering to pay for the move himself.
Trump: Adelson ‘tirelessly advocated’ for embassy move to Jerusalem
US weighs Sheldon Adelson offer to fund Jerusalem embassy
Trump even sold the old US Ambassador’s home to Adelson.
The Herzliya house, which appears to be the most expensive single residence ever sold in Israel, was allegedly bought by Trump ally Sheldon Adelson
His term ends in 26, which leaves hi well positioned to run at the front of the pack, having fulfilled his promise to finish his term. He left congress for the governorship because he’s always had Presidential ambition and his plan was always 28. I don’t see him pulling the trigger early just because the leftist media wants him too.
He could also then join the Trump administration as AG or FBI director to clean those agencies up. Although, I think he should stump the country making speeches.
Very persuasive.
So Trump/Youngkin as argued in post 87?
IDK, haven’t followed Youngkin so not familiar with his history or trajectory. The VP slot is wide open and I can see the appeal of another non politician.
I can see Trump running with with a preselected slate of outsiders as proposed cabinet picks and angency directors seeking a mandate to clean up and downsize the federal workforce.
People have seen what a bunch of arrogant do nothings they are, like Pete Buttigieg. Asking the people to vote for a metaphorical political bloodbath of the unelected bureaucracy would be an awesome platform.
I’m not sure that Trump would accept a VP slot
But it allows for campaigning in the primary for a federal office!
Well Ukraine wasn’t at war with Russia at the time either
Hrenell was great in the Trump admin
You are just this side of delusional
Great ideas! Run with cabinet picks chosen, vetted and ready to campaign with him.
None of what you stated even remotely refutes:
