Buddy of mine bought a table for the Lincoln Reagan Dinner at the George R. Brown convention center. I almost blew it off as I'm so sick of FNC giving RD airtime and banning DJT, but decided to do a little due diligence.
He spoke for 30 minutes without a teleprompter. Good delivery, lots of red meat, pretty fired up. Crowd of 800 or so pretty laid back. Lots of pretty GOP women I have to say.
Not a single mention of Ukraine, which I see as the defining difference between RD and DJT. Ron's going to fall in line with Mitch and lose to PDJT in spectacular fashion in the primaries. But he'll end up as Trump's VP.
Just my humble opinion.
Interesting. Anything specific about the WEF, Great Reset, Davos elites, etc?
Nothing. But we all came away with the same impression - he’s running.
If he goes against Trump it will be the end of his political career. That’s why I think it’s all play-acting to head-fake MSM and FNC (which are one in the same). Trump/DeSanctus 2024!
That statement doesn't add up does it? You first say he's running, ok, let's say he is. Then you say if he runs, it will be the end of his political career, ok, let's say it is end of his political career if he loses in the primary. But then you say he will be the VP on Trump's ticket in the general? I thought you said his political career would be over by then.
I think he has no intention of running in 24. He’s just romancing the donors for 28 and running interference for DJT.
I think he wants his kids to be older and his wife to be clear of cancer longer before jumping into the deep end.
But somebody has to be a “Plan B” if Trump can’t go. And right now DeSantis seems to be the only one who comes close to Trump.
There is no plan B. We either school the deep state by putting DJT back in office or the deep state pwns us by installing another one of their own.
And why would a sitting Governor comment on foreign policy?
Interesting. The political world would be shocked if he decided to sit this one out. Everything I see points to him running. But I see three scenarios:
1) He runs hard against Trump. Eviscerates him for warp speed. Plays the age card. Joins McConnell as a pro-war guy. He loses spectacularly and his political career is over.
2) He runs and debates the issues intelligently aside Trump on the stage. They compliment each other. When it becomes clear he can’t beat Trump, he joins him on the ticket.
3) He doesn’t run. Completes his term in ‘26. Then he is the clear leader for the ‘28 nomination.
The problem with 3) is that Trump/DeSantis has a much better chance of beating the cheat than Trump/Lake, which some will perceive as just too MAGA.
4) Remains very dignified, and only ever responds to Trump’s attacks on his character, whether he runs against Trump in the primary or not. That’s exactly what he’s doing now. If he doesn’t win primary, keeps his distance and watches Trump lose again in the general. Stays above the fray, and becomes the party leader immediately afterward.
The Demonrat women are awgly that is fo sho.
Let’s be clear, Trump’s DOD was sending National Guard units to Ukraine for years. He approved.
He’s needs to own that.....
*********
Prove that, Tonto.
Spent some 35 years or so in the area.
“Remains very dignified...”
Possible. But his handlers (Griffin, et al) and surrogates are already attacking Trump behind the scenes.
DeSantis will do exactly what his money men tell him to do - full stop. Not so with Trump.
I’m afraid Ron is being bullied into running.
Trump said he would build a wall. He didn't.
No it is not. Trump did not give his first major foreign policy speech outlining his "America First" agenda until April 2016.
DeSantis has a whole year
Trump has boatloads of enemies already, so a few more from DeSantis supporters won't make much difference. But the ONLY people attacking DeSantis, are Trump and his supporters. Sure that might change, but it might not. Not in the same way Trump is attacked. A lot of people are just turned off by a big mouth braggadocios rich guy, independent of politics.
DeSantis will do exactly what his money men tell him to do - full stop. Not so with Trump.
Trump has his own set of big money donors, it's a fable that he doesn't. Almost all of his business money came from foreign banks too. He's hardly got clean hands in this regard. There's a strong case that's been made by some that Sheldon Adelseon, the dual Israeli citizen who was Trump's biggest donor, was behind Trump's decision to move their embassy, for example.
I’m afraid Ron is being bullied into running.
Could be. It certainly wouldn't be easy, to have to deal with being Governor, and take on Trump at the same time, and that's even assuming Trump supporters won't block that vote to allow him to do both in the Florida legislature.
I think he's playing it perfectly right for now. Be the bigger man above Trump's childish rants, continue to propose and implement a strong conservative agenda in his state, and see what pitfalls may await Trump over the next several months.
??? What does that have to do with your post here?
Your point/post was You did not want gay flags flying at our embassies. Trump banned then from flying. Right?
“DeSantis has a whole year...”
...to opine about us being on the brink of world war. OK Ron - take your time. Keep us guessing!
TDS runs deep in you.
You just wish DeSantis would say something that you can criticize because, so far, you are shooting blanks and have NOTHING.
DeSantis is a true conservative and has governed as such....more conservative than Trump or any previous governor before taking the Oval Office.
Even Reagan was not this conservative as governor of California.....but the Trump cultists say that is not enough...which is all you need to know that they are cultists and not free thinkers.
