Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas. 🚴♂️👍
Ping me.
I bought a trailer for my bike, because carrying stuff on a bike is too hard of work. Works amazingly well.
I used to carry a 40 pound bag of dog food on my shoulder while riding a bike.
My fully loaded trailer weighs about 80lbs, because I carry everything I need work in it.
I tried to carry it on my body and it was sooo heavy. I felt like a coal mining slave, all hunched over.
They make some serious load-bearing gear for tools, but 80 pounds is a lot.
I don’t carry tools.
I carry my backpack, with all my electronics.
A carry bag for my thermoses.
A couple of 2” binders full of paper.
And my juice.
I could probably lighten the load a bit if I purposely became more efficient, but I would have to stop being so comfortable. :D
Congrats on your new trailer. I definitely will be looking for one.
I checked with some homeless guys before buying one, because I wanted to know how much a pull a fully loaded trailer might have on my efforts to ride a bicycle. They told me that they’ve transported people before and it never slowed them down. So, that’s why I took a chance on getting one.

Nice bike bagster.
Rode mine a wopping 3 miles today!
Feel like such a stud.
Did a lot of yelling around corners, just so everyone in the neighborhood knew I was out riding.
Rode 65 miles of Texas gravel roads around San Saba last weekend. Started out with 200 people then when the shorter and longer routes split off i found myself in the middle of nowhere for 25 miles never seeing another soul. Not a house, a truck, a dog….just some cows and me. 2500 feet elevation gains with some really cool vistas at the tops of big hills.
That is a great picture, Berlin_Freeper - thank you for sharing it with us!

Any recommendations on type of trailers, I've seen alot of those trailers people buy for their kids to ride in, and I've seen a few man made trailers, both one wheel and two wheel types.
I'm dirt poor, I've always wanted to make a trailer that would hook to the back wheel axle, does any one know of a company or individual that makes custom axles for the back wheel and the hooks for the trailer to hook/clips onto the axles, I've seen on the Internet along time ago a company that does that but I've lost the link to the company.
Surly makes trailers and hitches, but their stuff is not inexpensive.
Thanks for the reply, I checked out their web site, yes they are expensive I’ll probably never buy anything from them. But I filled out their email thing and snipped(Microsoft) a part of their home page and printed it and hung it on my bulletin board with the other thousands of pieces of paper to collect dust. I’ll probably never make a trailer, I’ve got a thousand irons in the fire with out much expendable money, and every time I lay down to sleep the years fly by, haha.
I can see why you posted that your wife divorced you.
She wanted to be around normal people, whom you kept scarring away, Qtard.
