In the United States, millions of people struggle with anxiety related to politics. They may hate the current state of the country, they may fear their political rivals getting into power, or they may be obsessed with the latest developments related to a cause that's important.
But what's the real reason political anxiety is so high? And what can we do about it?
Root Causes of High Political Anxiety
Let's start by taking a closer look at the major root causes of high political anxiety.
Governmental power and control. Imagine for a moment that the federal government was only responsible for one thing: taking care of a single tree in the middle of rural Utah. Their budget is $100 per year, and there's only one person in charge of making sure that tree is cared for. It's a voluntary, unpaid position, so only truly passionate arborists would apply for it. In this fanciful scenario, do you think anyone in the United States would care what happens in the next election? Do you think anyone would worry or stress out about who would be in power in the federal government? The answer is no. The only reason we have anxiety, stress, and worry about what happens in government is because the government is ridiculously, uncomfortably powerful. If our political enemies (whoever they happen to be) take power, they could exert tremendous control over our lives. So on some level, a bit of anxiety is reasonable.
The 24-hour news cycle. It doesn't help that we're in the era of the 24-hour news cycle. Media companies come in all shapes and sizes, from corporate juggernauts to independent journalists, and everyone is racing to publish news stories for the public to consume on a constant basis.

I would add that elections that are rigged for the leftists are so blatant that everyone sees it.
Exactly - People feel they don’t have a say in who’s “Lording” over them because the fix is so prevalent.
It’s the blatant stuff that gets me.
Elections are blatantly rigged.
Ghislaine Maxwell goes to prison for sex trafficking — but there is no one to whom she did the trafficking. How odd is that?
An enemy of the Clintons is found hanging from a tree, with a shotgun blast to his chest, and no weapon can be found. Obvious suicide, right? And then the weapon is found a few days later — 30 feet away from the guy who who shot himself in the chest with it. How blatant is that?
The list is pretty endless. It’s all “in your face” and “so, what are you going to do about it??”
It’s very depressing.
Nothing odd about that at all.
There are two sets of laws in this country: one for the rich, powerful and elite, another for the rest of us.
That's been true for decades and decades already. Once you accept this simple fact, everything else makes sense.
Gee, I don’t know? Could it be that the Country is in the midst of a Marxist revolution...and the Marxists are winning?
We get anxious because we refuse to treat our desire to live and the government’s desire to kill us as a difference of opinion.
Interestingly the commenters at AmThinker reflected my takd on this pollyanna author.
The polarization is not because we are not communicating with leftists & have gotten isolated. The rise in leftist ideology has created a schism between normal rational people & the media/university/globalist indoctrinated irrational leftards who are moving remorselessly to destroy our free society & our Country.
The Long March continued incrementally to seem some have suddenly woke up to the “Progressives” in control. Anyone watching with any understanding of human nature and history knows where this leads which justifies anxieties.
The Left needs an enemy and we’re it!
