All five people on board an air ambulance died Friday after their plane crashed near the city of Stagecoach in western Nevada.
The plane was carrying a pilot, flight nurse, flight paramedic, a patient and a family member of the patient, according to REMSA Health, which provides the air ambulance service.
"We are in the process of notifying their family members," the organization wrote in a statement. "Our immediate focus is helping our team members and families, as well as the responding agencies."
Around 9:15 p.m. local time on Friday, the Lyon County Dispatch Center began to receive multiple calls of a possible aircraft crash in Stagecoach, which is less than an hour's drive from Reno. The plane was found around 11:15 p.m. local time, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.
The Central Lyon Fire Department and Lyon County Sheriff's Department are coordinating with the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration is also assisting the investigation.
REMSA Health is a private, emergency response group that provides ground and helicopter ambulance service across northern Nevada and northeastern California.
The PC 12 fixed wing aircraft was part of the organization's Care Flight program, designed to respond under one hour and navigate complex terrain or difficult weather conditions.

Totally sucks. Sorry to hear. RIP.
The weather in the area has been bad. High winds, snow squalls.
To add your name to the growing Nevada ping list, FReepmail me...
Perfect for icing or not seeing a ridge line.
PC-12 is a skookum aircraft, have to wonder wx + pilot error?
Nasty bit of work. We lost an air ambulance chopper here a few years back, binging a pt to Anchorage for a routine visit. Lost 4 souls. The transport company went out of business....
Yeah we had bad icing a few weeks back in the greater Reno area. Knocked my power out for 4 days.

REMSA Health’s new fixed-wing program, which includes five bases and a fleet of four helicopters, one airplane, and one Critical Care Ground Transport, covers approximately 50,000 square miles of California and Nevada, and services 11 states across the western United States, according to its website.
That’s bad. I know there’s been some bad weather in that area.
Folks from our area. 🙏😓
We were only out for 23 hours.
We got snow not much freezing stuff. Yet. But NVenergy is gonna stick it to us again. Last year this month on their averaging, our bill was $131. They bumped it to $152 and I just got an email that they’re bumping it to $221. 🤔🐎💩
Single Engine at night,,,,,,no way,,,,,that was my rule for 53 years in the cockpit.
Last night was some pretty nasty weather.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Single pilot ops... could be a case of “suddenly”?
“designed to ... navigate complex terrain or difficult weather conditions.”
Meh, not so much.
This is so sad ...
I like more than one myself, but there are some singles I would trust at night.
First I would need to own it and thus have control of the maintenance
FedX had 175 Cessna Caravans (208) flying all over the US and Canada, the latest but out of date number I can find.
Weather, dark nights...whatever.
I can’t recall any incidents involving them.
I was flying Bonanza’s long before ATC had radar and much of it at night
Much more important is : Who is driving?
Could be but weather was an issue and is likely a contributing factor to the crash. The winds around Reno can be treacherous and can remove parts of houses. Landing at RNO can be an E ticket ride at times due to turbulence. Couple that with possible wing icing and poor vis and bad things happen.
