More than 450,000 Michigan locations remain without power Saturday following an ice storm that brought freezing temperatures to the state.

The power-outage tracking website poweroutage.us reported that more than 470,000 customers, mostly in the southeastern part of the state where the storm hit, are experiencing outages as of Saturday morning. Wayne County, which is home to Detroit, has the most reported outages with more than 170,000, while Hillsdale County has a higher level of outages than any other county, with more than 65 percent of the 21,000 customers tracked experiencing an outage.

We TRY to not elect her, here in the great upnorth....

Always amazes me that the UP doesn’t start a movement to separate from what is south of the Mackinac Bridge.

That would be east, not west. West is over by the lake.

Well, upper northern Mi, where we live, is just like the yoopers in most every way. Conservative Wolf haters who hunt, fish, and care for their communities.

The line to separate would be just north of Detroit.

We try to ignore them down there.

A lot of it happens on Detroit's east side with most being in the Grosse Pointes.

Reason being is the overabundance of old growth trees that have their branches break down on the power lines due to the weight of ice.

This ice storm was fully anticipated as I received an email from Consumers Energy two days beforehand. Thankfully we never lost power. Branches fell out of tall trees in the backyard, but miraculously missed the power lines this time. We were ready for a temporary loss with extra food, sleeping bags, propane camp stove, but dodged the bullet.
I will say this, we haven’t had real snow in quite awhile, just this pebbly geo-engineered white stuff. This week’s icestorm was also geo-engineered, quite obvious from radar, and direct observation, for whatever reasons that drain more $$$ and increases misery.
Regarding Whitmer “winning” in 2022, be aware that our outgoing RINO Globalist Governor, Rick Snyder signed a contract in 2018 with the hackable/flippable Dominion election service. This ensured that the Gretch and her Soros Harpies won in 2018 and 2022 just in case the cheating that goes on in Detroit and other Dem strongholds wasn’t enough like in 2016. In 2022, nothing changed except the Gretch got a full makeover to make her look and sound more likeable. The RINOS never put up a good fight against her, and they all hightailed it after Tudor lost thanks to Dominion magic. Elections are rigged in many ways, and TPTB like that there’s nothing we the Peasants can do except get the Hanging Rope.

They should be proud to help the climate from changing.

Tudor lost the election when you got tricked into her remark about no exceptions on abortion. I was in MI on vacation last fall and they ran that clip at every commercial break. Sometimes twice during the same break. It defined her early. Sometimes you have to be smart about what you say and she wasn’t. I admire her stand on the issue, but she gave an answer that was easily cut and pasted to make her sound extreme on the issue and it worked. Most people are not absolutes on abortion either way, and they painted her as just that.

She has a natural gas powered Generac so theyโ€™re ok...

I bought a couple mid-range generators some years ago, run 'em fall and spring just to keep in shape...As the world got stupider I bought a Honda 7000 gasoline model for big trouble, and also have a 2000 watt generac for home and another for up on the Montour. Someone could sabotage the Montour machine but they better make it quick.

One river is 100 feet away. The other a few hundred yards.

If a guy can raise the funds it can bring a lot of peace.

Hmm. A downstaters liberal, I bet. Sniff.

You'd bet wrong. I hired her directly. She passed the "I'm not a liberal" test.

My summer home and hunting camp for 30 years were in the Western U.P. not far from 41 & 2. I spent many winter months there during hunting season (bow, rifle, black powder) outside in -20 and colder days hunting deer, field dressing, skinning and butchering them for food.

You trolls living below the bridge don't know sh*t about living in the great REAL upnorth, The U.P. Sit down and be quiet.

Too stupid.

You are a sometime tourist. Not the same as living here.

I went to work, asshat, in -40 many many many days. and it is no big deal to those of us who LIVE here.
Hitchhiked with snowmobilers after getting stuck.
We have plenty of venison in the freezer. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ You actually think hunting in co!d weather is limited to the UP?
Stupid.

And every year we get up on the roof and shovel off snow for much of a day, as needed.

Take a deep dive into a toilet.

Summer home. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
Winter cabin. We have a name for you tourists.

Well I thought it was fairly common knowledge that big cities filled with liberals could outnumber rural areas of states.

But perhaps not.

RE:Prayers for those affected.

Amen.

One example of a previous Michigan power outage. A lady in her 80s believed the refrigerated food was safe after 2.5 days so she ate it. Got sick and later died from related complications. I am convinced a lot of restaurants and supermarkets consider the financial loss of throwing out the spoiled food or sneaking it back to the customers.

Kroger near me rushes out refrigerated semis and keeps them running in the parking lots. Not any others I’ve noticed, at least near me.

Pardon me, all, but this is one of my triggers.
Total anger at the Michigan power leaders about all this.

Instead of investing in putting large amounts of power lines underground and sparing us from many outages caused by wind or ice or heat or snow every year, the power company DTe went all out for climate change lunacy.
One statement: The cost of this important change would be too high for our customer to bear in their monthly bills so it is being spread over time as we move to a new energy future.

((Instead of strengthening and protecting the power grid.))

The former CEO of DTE Gerry Anderson bragged and virtue signaled about deliberately choosing to force Michigan’s energy future into the most woke version possible. The opposite of my position.
“During his time as CEO, Anderson focused on and led the clean energy transformation of DTEโ€™s power generation, pursuing increasingly large-scale investments in renewable energy. He committed the company to directly address the climate crisis by retiring coal-fired generation over time, investing heavily in wind and solar, and driving for net zero carbon emissions โ€“ becoming one of the first industry CEOs to set this goal.

Anderson also brought a focus on clean energy to the Edison Electric Institute, the association that gathers the leadership of U.S. electric companies, which Anderson currently chairs. In that role, he has encouraged the industry to accelerate the nationโ€™s shift to clean energy production and to fundamentally address climate change.”
