Is it? I see no evidence of that as show seems to cover her almost completely now.

There was a snippet on the local news channel that explained bald eagles have hundreds of feathers and under each one is an air pocket that their body temperature warms up. The combination keeps them warm. The bird will be okay.

And visibility of prey is better when the plants have no leaves on them.

And the snow just insulates that dead-air space from the colder air.

Why would it be annoyed by the camera? If if bothered them, you’d know it. I was once in a helicopter that a nesting osprey took a dislike to. Nesting raptors are fearless.

Couple years ago I followed an Owl Cam...Nature not for the squeamish. Nest of three babies. The youngest did not survive, the other two pecked it to death.

She’ll most likely survive. She and others like her have been through this before. It’s just that they haven’t had a live cam pointed at them.

Animals adapt to nature, humans adapt nature to us.

Yeah, nobody ever insta-tracked nationwide how many bar or gang gunfights ended up killing one or more and injuring others. But now it’s a big political war.

OTOH, it IS pretty cool that now we have eagle cams and volcano cams and so on, for people interested.

“Nature isn’t cruel it is simply completely disinterested.”

Bingo. Nicely put. Our NextDoor app in North Idaho gets all sorts of similar concerns for suburban wild animals (deer, turkeys, coyotes). Most people tell them what you said — “it’s nature. they live with it, adapt or die.” But they don’t want to hear that. They want to put out food for the animals in winter. Knowledgeable people tell them that is exactly the wrong thing to do, that animal diets change throughout the year to adapt to what food is available and healthy for them, and that man-made food is bad for them. They do not want to hear that; they think they are “helping” the animals.

The funny thing is Idaho has 55 million wild acres. How do they think wild animals survive without human help on the 54.9 million acres outside our few cities and towns?

The eagle is doing what nature interned it to do. The Ukraine people are doing what their leader(s) want them to do.

Forgive me for intruding on the conversation and for sounding cruel but personally I don't give a rats hind leg for the people of Ukraine.

We no longer have a southern border, five million free loading pieces of crap have entered the country demanding things their not entitled to and didn't pay for and the people in Palentine Ohio have pretty much been told to go pound salt.
Never mind Ukraine. We need a regime change here, either by the ballot box or the cartridge box.

When I think of Big Ben Park I think of Joe Namath winning Superbowl III. I was skieing at Big Ben on that Sunday and heard that John Unitas had lost.

Correction: Big Ben = Big Bear in the area of Big Bear Lake.
Yet, my soul is not troubled.

I’ve been “dropping in on this pair” of eagles from time to time. Looks like they are doing great. A while ago there were calls back and forth as one came in with a prize — a coot, and then they engaged in what seemed almost like celebration. Happy birds! (Except the coot, of course!)

A bit later one came in with a branch. Then fussed with it some. Nest repair? Then the other took off, and branch bringer looks back and forth at the eggs and the branch, literally seems to “look” peeved for a moment (as if to say “What?! I thought I was working on the nest!”) and then decides the eggs are the priority.

Ok, people, I know, I know, eagles don’t “think” the way humans do, but one cannot help but watch that sequence and burst out laughing!

That’s great news. Amazing how they instinctively take care of each other. A mom and pop working together to create and raise a family. Humans should learn a lesson.
