Emergency crews responded to the “horrific scene” in the Texas city’s West Side around 2 p.m. and found a “completely bloody” 80-year-old man being dragged onto the sidewalk by one of two American Staffordshire terriers...

When SAFD firefighters got off the truck they were attacked by the dogs and forced to defend themselves with pickaxes and pike poles while they tried to treat the victim...

The dogs also attacked a woman, who was critically injured. A fire captain suffered a bite wound to the leg and a third victim was bitten in the hand. All three were taken to University Hospital for treatment.

It should not be legal to keep one of those dogs in a residential area.

Grossly negligent owners of these dogs must face jail time and be made to pay medical bills and lost work time for the victims.

“American Pit Bull Terriers/American Staffordshire Terriers are popular breeds that make loyal and devoted pets.”

Of course a pretty quick google search answered my first questions”

“American Staffordshire Terriers”

I’ll take euphemisms for $2000 alex

The two Staffordshire terriers, a male and female, were involved in another attack two years ago when they were also impounded with animal services, ACS Director Shannon Sims told KSAT.

Sims said the shelter has received numerous calls from concerned neighbors over the last two years claiming the dogs were neglected and seemed to be strays.

There is a fat sluggish old pit that wanders around my brother’s neighborhood and the school grounds. He says the authorities know about it, they don’t worry and neither does he.

Fatal dog attacks are as rare as fatal lightning strikes he says. He tripped and fell on it once but it didn’t eat him.

I can’t stand the things and I like dogs.

I had one of those beast charge me while I was walking for exercise. I stopped and faced him rather than run. Which is the proper response. He stopped about 3 feet away and waited on me to run. I hit him in the mouth with my cane hard enough to break his lower jaw. That was the day I started carrying the GP-100 on my walks

I live in the country so there is no such thing as “animal control” unless I do it. Someone dumped a Pit years ago and I tried to just chase it off (armed with a .45) one morning. It was back the next and charged me when I tried again. First Hydroshock to the chest at about 15’ slowed it down. Second one finally took it down. I gave it a chance, it chose poorly.

That is what you do to a crazy stray dog, in the country.

We did it.

I really do not like the idea of discharging a .357 in a residential neighborhood. Some of the imported Biden voters want to keep a vicious dog in their front yard because they did that in Guatemala or where ever they came from. In this case they had a wrecked car on the side of the house and were afraid somebody would steal parts off it. The HPD issued them a citation and animal control took that dog and four others they had. If I had been a kid who did not know not to run that thing would have killed me.

SAFD (Fire) not SAPD (Cops).

Did a quick search.
Deer are about twenty times more likely to kill you than a dog, all dogs, of which PB related fatalities are just over half.
That might sound like justification for the hate until you look at the number of PB’s in the population. Media bias gives PB’s an unfair rap since it drives their sensationalist narrative.
Cattle and horses are about twice as likely to kill you.
Insects also more likely, lightning is about equal.
But hey, keep on hating on the animal of your choice, seems many here really enjoy that sort of irrational behavior.
If the dogs here had been any other breed the story would have remained local.
