RE: Plumbers, HVAC, Welders, Machinists, Electronic Techs, lots of choices............................
OK, just as Female Gymnasts are great till they reach their early twenties, Tennis Players are great till they reach their mid to late 30’s, same as Boxers, Basketball and Football Players and other athletes, how long can the tradesmen listed above last before they reach their over-the-hill age?
Plumbers, HVAC, Welders, Machinists, Electronic Techs, etc...
All of them well into their 60’s. I know many that age.
It starts hurting when you hit your 50s. Then you’re expected to work until 65/67 in pain.
High work is what gets them. But remember many skilled trades have good insurance and pensions. Get a Pipe Fitter journeyman rating then train in Mechanical Control Systems for HVAC and refrigeration. You can make 90 k and have your own business when you are ready.
75......................
right up until retirement age for most positions. I know many welders and pipe fitters in their 60’s but many of them were smart with their money and retired in their 50’s.
***how long can the tradesmen listed above last before they reach their over-the-hill age?***
62 or 70 when you decide to retire. I did at 62. A steel worker and power plant worker most of my life.
In Massachusetts the average age for licensed electricians is 57 years old, nationwide it is 42. Not too many are coming into the trade because it involves thinking and some physical work. 2% are female, 3% are LGBT.I made it to 59 before a disability forced retirement but I teach P/T night school.
