I am happy for the man but I would be happier if he had bought his ticket at a privately owned market.

The seller of the ticket gets a bonus for selling the ticket.

He bought at a corporate chain and that bonus will be largely unnoticed on their bottom line.

A small store owner receiving that bonus might make major improvements to his store or be saved from bankruptcy.

Reminds me of a similar story in which a guy was at a convenience store to buy himself a lottery ticket. The jackpot at the time was massive, so there was a long line of other people behind him waiting to buy tickets too.

When the lottery retailer printed out his ticket and slid it across the counter to give it to him, the guy directly behind him rudely grabbed it for himself, slapped his 2 bucks on the counter, and left the store. So, the lottery retailer simply printed up a new ticket to give to him.

Guess who won the jackpot? Had the rude guy patiently waited his turn, that winning ticket would have been his.

Generally speaking, the $20, $25 and $30 scratch offs are usually 4, 5 and 6 games on one ticket. So you’re getting 5 games for $25. Haven’t seen the $50 scratch off but I would assume there are 10 games or “chances” on one large scratch off ticket.
