Scientists have sequenced a nearly complete woolly mammoth genome, which should bolster efforts to resurrect the Stone Age zoological rock star.
Working with two mammoth specimens excavated from different parts of Russia and from different eras -- one nearly 45,000 years old, the other just 4,300 years old -- an international team of scientists has sequenced a nearly complete genome for the extinct pachyderm. The achievement provides the most complete snapshot yet of what a woolly mammoth was, which also means we're as close as we've been in a few thousand years to seeing, in person again, what a mammoth is.

You can’t clone a skin walker. Probably took like 6 skins to replicate that.
Read it. Cool book. Rule of Cool says proceed.
FTA “”the goal of Church’s group is partially to bring large elephants back to the northern tundra as a means of converting it back to grassland to help insulate the permafrost below, thereby slowing climate change.””
Another ‘scientist’ who has drinks in Globull Gloaming, Climate Change crapola. Now, woolley Mammoths will save the world. Not too long ago New York and Chicago were under a mile of ice. The Great Cold and ice will return. It is a cycle, and all we can do is adapt. If someone does grow a few Mammoths, they will feel right at home when all the snow and ice returns.
Did these people not read or watch Jurassic Park?
“Living woolly mammoths could roam the tundra again soon...”
It would immediately be classified an endangered species and all EPA rules and regulations would apply.
At least

“Who’s scooppin’ the poop?”
Now that I have retired, I will try to learn how to post images. In the meantime, click on the link below to view the image. (anytime someone would complain about work, I would show them the image below. Usually stopped the complaints).
Until I teach myself how to post images, maybe someone who knows could post the actual image.
Enjoy!
Lol! When we were kids my parents took my brother and me to see the changing of the Horse Guards. One of the the Horse Guards’ horses made a most spectacular poop. My little brother was about six (age little boys are impressed with such things), and whenever anyone asked about our trip to London the first thing he excitedly told them was about ... you guessed it ... the Horse Guards and what that horse did.
He was also most impressed with Henry VIII’s armor, but somehow knew better than to mention that in polite company. Little boys!
In case you are wondering about the armor:
They say that like it’s a good thing.
If they do succeed and put it in what they think was their native environment (freezing to sub-zero) they will be unpleasantly surprised. The hair follicles on a mammoth were hollow to help take heat away from the animal, not to insulate it.
Yep. The King had to appear virile.
Also…..protecting the family jewels. Literally!
The first thing scientists should do if find a way to inject brains and common sense in people.
Its the rules? Damn.
I’m off to jump my truck over the fire then.
Fire jumping trucks are the very definition of cool, so it must be done.
Elon Musk is working on that.
But one person’s common sense is another person’s insanity. 😆
Well young man owning a pet is a big responsibility. You’re going to be the one who has to feed him and walk him and clean out his cage. Understand?
De nada.
