With Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) being term-limited and likely to run for president in 2024, questions are circulating about who will replace him. According to Politico, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla) is reportedly a top contender to take over as Governor in the Sunshine state.
If DeSantis becomes the 47th president, current Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez would finish his term and run unopposed as Governor. “If DeSantis finishes his term, you can imagine one or multiple current [Florida] Cabinet members in a crowded primary, or you can imagine an anointing,” said Andrade. “Either way, it’s not hard to see how Gaetz comes out of the primary.”
Could be...
And wouldn’t that be AWESOME.
We need bomb throwers. Just in the legislatures. That would have to excuse Trump but perhaps the voters will wake up. Can’t deny his record.
Reagan was considered too sharp around the edges. He turned out ok.
For some reason when I read Big Forehead the image that popped into my head was Conway Twitty.
I remember Mourfock and Akin very well.
Which one of them said women don’t get pregnant by rape?
I be would look for Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez to be a player when DeSantis leaves office, he could be very formidable, Republican big city mayor who has been a real contrast to democrat mayors around Florida and the country
Without getting into an argument over the merits or lack thereof of Trump, I don’t think Gaetz would be a candidate for Gov. He’s sort of the hair opposite of “Snakehead,” Rick Scott, our current Senator, who was not exactly a warm and fuzzy people person but was an excellent administrator.
BTW, DeSantis was my Rep. when he started out, and he was good from the start.
Gates fires guided missiles.
Half of Trump's grenades blow up in his own hand.
He’s a lefty though. Did not support DeSantis either time. Great guy for this current job. No political future statewide. At least if we want to maintain our success.
Gaetz is a brilliant person, if you ever watch a long interview with him. He’s also a true leader, part of which is being an amazing communicator. He just hasn’t gotten a chance to spread his wings because of all the old timers camping on committee chairmanships in Congress.
I don’t think Gaetz could have won Florida before DeSantis transformed it into such a conservative powerhouse, because he can be polarizing even more than DeSantis. We will need someone like him, if not him, to keep the state brightly red going forward.
It should be Byron Donalds. He’s on the same path as DeSantis starting in the US House. He’s a superstar in the making. Great conservative instincts and good communicator.
Eventually Florida will have another Hispanic Governor given how the population is moving, the current Lt. Governor is Hispanic from South Florida, she will be someone to keep your eye on, not saying either one of those is going to win, remember Florida elected Charlie Crist as a Republican Governor, if he can get elected anyone can.
Miami mayor Suarez is pretty. Those things count. He’s not a conservative but then you have to think about the Miami voters. Women will never admit to his sex appeal but in the case of BJ they didn’t have to. They enjoy being lied to.
Suarez-VP some day? Rino senator might be better if we can get 55 seats.
I thought Paul Begala.

During the 2014 legislative session, Nuñez worked with state senator Jack Latvala to sponsor legislation that "would allow the children of undocumented immigrants to pay the same in-state tuition rates for college as other Floridians,"[8] which ended up passing the legislature.
Nah....Pam Bondi, former FL AG.
that was 9 years ago...
you’re using looney leftists tactics to destroy a republican lieutenant governor’s reputation...
