A fine example of how a government can enforce stupidity.

I frequently make trips of that length for my job. I not only don’t worry about where to sleep or eat, I don’t worry about finding a gas station.

I can identify with these people to some extent, as we had a gas guzzling pickup that when hauling the camper got a whopping 8 mpg and this truck only had a 24 gallon tank. We were constantly worried about where the next gas station would be, as we do not live in a heavily populated part of the US.

The difference is it took about 5 minutes to refuel. Another difference is heat is a waste product from a gas engine, meaning it costs nothing to heat the cab.

We might consider a hybrid some day, but never a full electric for the same reasons given in the OP as well as the fire hazard, extreme battery weight and the cost of replacing the battering being greater than the value of the vehicle.

“It’s just harder for the monster and the doctor to get to the landing at the top so the monster can throw Victor off.”

Actually, that would be ‘Henry’, the name Hollywood concocted for the doctor in the movie version to which you’re referring. Great scene, though…

I own and love my EV.

I’d NEVER take it on a long trip. Daily commute only. If you can’t afford to own 2 cars you most likely should not buy an EV.

I HATE government intervention in the free market.

Typical liberal “style-over-substance”. Having unrealistic expectations is what they do.

“Road Trip”

What kind of ABSOLUTE IDIOT thinks they can take an EV on a road trip? That is NOT their purpose.

I can appreciate the dilemma. We need to have Beta testers so that we can refine the technology. That way when the new United States appears (sans: white man, working class, self-sufficient), the serfs will have limited transportation which will be electronically controlled by George Soros and Bill Gates.

Hmmm. A new Buc-ee’s opened near me about a year ago and it has 120 gas pumps! I wonder if it has any charging stations?

Months ago I tweeted to the Musk-Man himself something like this:

“My 19 year old minivan can carry me and seven friends from Times Square to Rodeo Drive in 45 hours for about $700. When a Tesla can do that, call me.”

Heated seats and a heated steering wheel are hardly substitutes for cabin heating when the temperature is below zero. What about defrosting? In an unheated car interior the moisture from your breath condenses on the windows making defrosting a safety necessity. What about using the headlights lights and wipers during inclement weather, wouldn’t those also sap the battery?

I am reminded of stories my mother told about travel by unheated horse drawn sleigh in the raw South Dakota winter. Those hardy souls would cover themselves with blankets including sleigh blankets usually made of a tanned horses hide backed with wool felt.
