Liam Neeson thinks 'Star Wars' spinoffs are 'diluting' franchise

Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Liam Neeson thinks the many Star Wars spinoff series are "diluting" the franchise.

The 70-year-old actor discussed the possibility of starring in a Star Wars spinoff about his character Qui-Gon Jinn during Thursday's episode of Watch What Happens Live.

Neeson played Qui-Gon in Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace (1999) and recently appeared as the character in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi starring Ewan McGregor.

On WWHL, Neeson was asked if he is interested in his own spinoff.

"No, I'm not. There's so many spinoffs of Star Wars. It's diluting it, to me, and it's taken away the mystery and the magic, in a weird way," the actor explained.

"It was nice to do the little bit with Ewan after 25 years, 24 years," he said. "I appeared in the last episode -- had three lines to say, two lines, and that was cool. I loved doing that. That's it."

“Star Wars - The Search For More Money”. Totally. I saw the first on in the theater near a Mervyns store and I shall always remember the pure awe of the opening scene with a giant spaceship floating overhead.

Saw the original twice. Saw 2,3,5. Five was sooooo stupid, I knew I was old and was no longer intrigued by overdone CGI and tired plot lines and plot twists.
I can see all the poorly done B grade science fiction I want for free and lots funnier. Some of them have better plots and writing.
Very interesting and thought provoking is “Five million years to Earth” 1967 film.

of course they are...happened with me years ago when the new movies came out. The white girl falls for a deserting black guy and they fall to tears when they have to part ways later in the movie. I thought to myself... fk this...

and later Han Solo's son kills him in another movie. nothing sacred, nothing respectful or honorable.

yes, the franchise will die off by its own doing.

“Saw the first way back in 77”

The first time I saw it, with a group, we really liked it. (I think it was when it was released.) Then I saw it a couple years later and asked myself, “What was I thinking!? I liked it the first time.” Then I remembered that we were all wearing big parkas the first time with little airplane-size bottles of vodka, etc., in the pockets. Then it made sense.

**Amateur. I saw it 12 times that year.**

For critic like me that would have been torture.

Lol!

I took a date to see Jaws, summer 75. From about the middle of the flick and on she was giggling and laughing whenever there was a scary scene. People in the row in front of us were turning around and looking at her. She admitted that pepsi made her ‘goofy’. I wanted to move a few seats away, but the place was packed.

My girlfriend and I laughed through “Earthquake”. We thought it was hilarious — so ridiculous.

AKA “Quatermass and the Pit”. I think it was released under a different name in UK vs US. Great movie.
