NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued G1-Minor and G2-Moderate Geomagnetic Storm Watches that will run from Feb. 16-18 due to the continuing effects of the Coronal Mass Ejections (CME).
According to the SWPC, the geomagnetic storm may affect satellite operations and could even lead to weak power-grid fluctuations. In addition, migratory animals could be affected, and the Northern Lights may be visible farther south than usual, like in northern Michigan and Maine.
A second CME was also observed on the sun on Wednesday, and officials said the effects could begin to impact Earth starting late Friday morning or Friday afternoon.

No it won’t.
“migratory animals could be affected”
Interesting. Had not heard that before. Do they wander around aimlessly for a couple days? We need a multi trillion dollar program to help the animals.
Quick! Somebody get Greta the Swedish Meatball on this right away!
SpaceX has a launch today. Another Starlink. Hope it doesn’t affect it.
She can look at Sun and say, “How dare you!”
I have noticed CMEs have increased in proportion with CO2 concentration
That’s right. They lost a group of starlink satellites the last time they launched during a solar storm.
Just bought a new car and had my roof redone.
That stuff better not land on my address.
So our car exhaust is having an impact on the other planets of our solar system too!
Feb. 16-18
********
We are about half way thru it.
Today be the 17th or so they say.
This is essentially a stock story... They just republish it every other week with different dates.
We are not going to be destroyed by a ‘solar’ flare... A piece of the sun will not break off and head our way... And when the sun does explode, or the fire goes out... you’ll figure it out without needing the internet.
BTW - The earths core didn’t stop spinning... It just didn’t spin in the first place... That was another scientific ‘guess’ being proven as wrong.
The unknowable is always unknowable until you know it.
Our hot water heater has sprang a leak and is going to have to be replaced. It’s not in an easy-to-get-to spot. Can I blame it on the solar storm and ask for reparations?
This “do it yourself” stuff was easier at age 40, than it is at age 60+.
If this Geomagnetic Storm gets too close to us, will the cows do their job and lay down in time to let us know it is coming?
Balloons beware!!!
I’m watching the press briefing at the White House on CNN. Fox News is having major transmission problems. No other channel is having problems. Just Fox.I would like to blame it on the solar storm, but it’s the ONLY channel having problems.
It’s hitting right about now.
