Chinese citizens in Texas are incensed over a proposal to ban them from buying property in the state

Activist Ling Luo says her Chinese community in Texas has gone from
fearful to infuriated — and they’re demanding that their voices be heard.

By the hundreds, they’ve been taking to the streets all over the state,
pleading with elected officials to kill a piece of legislation they fear
could threaten their futures.

A bill introduced in the Texas Senate in late December has been gaining
over the past month, and it came as a bombshell to Asian Americans and
others across the state. The legislation, SB 147, would make it illegal for
Chinese citizens to buy any property in Texas, including homes.

So no Chinese person can ever buy a home in the USA. IIRC, we tried that before.

. . . why would Asian-Americans be concerned?

Because yellow people all think alike according to our leftist masters. Doesn't matter if they are from Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Japan, China or the Philippines . . .

“Nope, it’s DOA.”

If the legal argument is National Security, SCOTUS has most always deferred those matters to the political branches of government.

I believe George Takei was sent to an internment camp during WWII.

The better areas of Queens, NY are being bought up by Chinese buyers. This has been going on for several years. My downstairs neighbor in my co-op apartment building there used to get knocks on her door by Chinese strangers asking her, “You know of apartments for sale?” She would tell them, “Ask at the office.” What a chutzpah, to go around knocking on peoples’ doors. They were buying up every co-op apartment that came on the market, private homes in the surrounding neighborhood, etc. They were rapidly changing the character of the neighbor, and not for the good. In this pristine neighborhood, now you’d see Chinese men squatting in the lawn area in their pajamas (no robe), smoking a cigarette. One neighbor complained to me that her new Chinese neighbor was laying malodorous fish across the bushes to dry them. I saw a Chinese grandmother take the pants of her small granddaughter down in the middle of the lawn so she could relieve herself! One Chinese neighbor who moved in next door was using the window wells of our building to store used soda bottles before he collected enough to redeem, and it was drawing hordes of flies. He and his middle aged wife had also divided the living room of the 1-bedroom unit into several smaller rooms with floor to ceiling curtains. Each section contained 3 stacked beds. They tried to pass off the dozen 20-somethings they stuffed into their apartment as their own kids, when everyone knew they were running an illegal sublet. We got them thrown out. By now, I’ll bet the whole complex has been bought by Chinese. So glad I’m not there any more. My house down here is nearly complete in its remodeling and I have the best neighbors ever :) .

It is any individual who is a citizen of China, Iran, North Korea or Russia. Green card holders don’t give up citizenship of their native country.

That was a long time ago, and no longer fits with what is socially acceptable, which rules our land today.

No property is fine.

Give up Chinese citizenship when they become American citzen. They need to be required to live in residential property.

Wealthy Chinese nationals including Chinese government officials have bought thousands of properties in Vancouver and California that sit empty. It has driven prices through the roof. They have to spend their money somewhere, China is not a safe investment long term and they know it.

The act in question, is not taking the opportunity to people that have become US citizens. And this is not the first time this has been done. It was done to the Japanese, to include citizens, and internship into camps during WW II.

Americans can legally own property in Mexico with full title. However, within 50 kms of the ocean or 100 kms of the border, Americans can only buy property through a bank-owned trust. If the bank goes under, the trust is passed to another bank. Americans should only be wary of buying Ejido propery. Look up that term to learn more.
