Why does this happen mainly in the USA - and no, it's not the easy accessibility of firearms
Switzerland has the same number of arms per 100K population but has far fewer such incidents. I don't know why - I'd say culture, but no more than that

In America we’re not allowed to answer questions like that. We are supposed to blame all of the violence on the guns themselves.

Diversity is not strength and tribalism always leads to violence.
Rawanda only had the hutus and the tutsis and look how that worked out.
Switzerland has French, German, and Italian ethnicities, but they all see themselves as Swiss. The US used to be the same and see themselves as American, now we are just dozens of tribes who happen to live within US borders, competing with each other for political power just so they can screw the other guy.
It’s ironic to say so in the context of this case, but the 15 % or so of the US population that is black has been committing 50% or more of the homicides, 64% in the most recent data year. If you look at murders in Illinois outside of Chicago, the rate isn’t far from Switzerland.
So looking at the non-black population only would roughly halve the homicide rate. Which still isn’t great.
If you take out blacks and Hispanics from gun crime rates, the USA’s gun crime rate is about the same as Germany.
Probably has to do with a certain subset of the population, of whom it’s verboten to notice. Take their contribution out and American numbers are rather average.
Segregate black and white murderers into their own separate categories.
I dare you.
A miniscule percentage of blacks, less than 1%, is responsible for nearly half the murders in America. Factor in Mexican gangs and you have nearly all the murders.
The bare fact is that ten minority dominated and lead metro areas around the nation, ruled as one party democrat fiefdoms are responsible for almost 80% of the murders in America.
So it isn’t useful to talk about the American murder rate. We would need to know which America you are referring to.

Of course it’s culture.
This nation has actively undermined everything that keeps a society civil…
Do a chart with the number of blacks in each country, and you will find your answer.
Would be interesting to see that chart going back 100 years, and with date that violent shooter video games became common.
But Switzerland didn’t have any cotton to be picked...and Switzerland has defended her borders more closely than we have.
Booker T Washington is a very important figure in American history. If you have some free time do some research on him. And it's noteworthy that these words were spoken by a black man during a time what the typical black person had good reason to feel very badly treated in this country.
If you look at the FBI Uniform Crime Reports, you see that over half of US homicides involved blacks.
Take out the black and Hispanic homicides, and Americans of European descent have about the same rate as Europeans.
That chart gives very little useful information by itself.
Take that 4.12 number and divide that bar into ‘by race’ and you will see a surprising correlation.
Then compare that percentage (of the 4.12 number) with percentage of population and you will get another stunning graph.
