Biden never shuts up about trains ,and he told us he was going to cure cancer. And now a train goes off the tracks, they light it on fire, it's probably going to give everybody cancer and the president calls a lid. They have the whole Ohio River contaminated. These chemicals are flowing downstream to West Virginia, and we haven't declared a national emergency.

But why wouldn’t the fire also cause an explosion, with the increased heat and pressure?

They are busy trying to find a way to blame Trump for this and then maybe they will go help the people who live there.
It’s taking a week for them to get Biden lucid enough to explain the shootdowns and the environmental train disaster so that he can read a prepared statement and then shuffle away not taking questions. Probably in the next day or so.

The proximate cause of the derailment was the crew operating the train. There was a dereliction of duty.
We have all seen the video of the flaming wheel barreling down the tracks. In the old days, there would have been a caboose that monitored the train. I checked Wikipedia, and their article on the caboose stated that one of the duties of the crewman in the caboose was to watch for hot wheels.
But cabooses were thought to be obsolete due to new electronic warning devices so are no longer attached to the end of trains. The electronic warning devices must have also been unattached.

All trains are supposed to have emergency pneumatic brakes but Norfolk Southern must have gotten themselves a watered down law, a repeal or complete exemption. They need to be sued for much more than “negligence.”
I can’t imagine how anyone could go back much less be ‘glad to be home.’ Just unreal.
We don’t need a national emergency, but DeWine should have declared a state emergency and taken over the clean up and care of the citizens of East Palestine. Then, he could have called on the White House for federal aid.
It is too late to fix this fubar, but it isn’t too late to care for the people. If we can house all those illegal aliens and give their kids free college, we can take care of the people of East Palestine and their pets.
