What happens to the body when we sleep with the heating on?
The Jerusalem Post ^ | 12 Feb 2023 | DR. IDAN GOREN/WALLA

Winter can take some of the blame, but the cold isn't really the cause of the illnesses around us. The real culprit for catching viruses is a lack of ventilation. Let's discuss one significant obstacle to health every winter - the heating.

It's true that it's important to keep the body warm so that it remains healthy and stimulates blood circulation, but don't exaggerate. Any doctor will confirm that there's no need to overheat rooms. On the contrary, ventilating the spaces can reduce the chance of infection.

How does a heat pump in heating mode dry out the air?

For those not in the know, you can use polypropylene tubing with lp gas instead of copper or steel.

That is my question. One issue I have with heatpumps is that they don’t do anything about the dampness on a cold rainy day. I have to light the wood stove to be comfortable.

Back when I worked for Uncle Sam, we had four large cans with a couple of inches of water at every bunk to prevent URI (Upper Respiratory Infection).

Seemed to help.

Built 100 something gas stations in DFW. Any old polypropylene works in vapor traps for gasoline. You can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot.Just cannot use it for AVgas.

Will work, yes for underground service.
The requirement of my local county is for the pipe and fittings to withstand 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit for inside the building.

That said, a friend once told me that in Arkansaw almost anything is legal?

So I had to look it up!

YES, it is approved for use somewhere.

Not pexlan. The clear tubing, so it could monitored. And always ran through secondary containment with “bridges”/ monitor stations.

Got my house rigged up like that through fiberglass secondary with ‘ smellers’. Plus my tank has a mechanical leak detection system

Went a little overboard, but just wanted to cover my ass. (I still keep a license)

My nose bled in winter, all winter, when I was a child. After my mom had to clean the blood off the pillowcase for the umpteenth time shed talked to the doctor and he recommended A&D ointment in each nostril every night.

I’ve used that stuff every night since, both summer and winter, and it works great. Keeping the nostrils healthy and without micro-cracks helps with your overall health.

I’m bored too....

Nat gas is about 1/8 psi, so is lp gas.

Gasoline and diesel are about 2 psi at your local station.

A fuel line is about 6 psi.

High pressure is in boilers.

Why are you trying to make the argument for using non-code piping in homes?

We’ve been heating with the wood stove most of the winter and as long as the weather is reasonably mild, we leave a window in the living room opened about an inch, which does give us fresh air.

We do like to keep the thermostat down to low 60’s at night, although it does make for chilly midnight trips to the bathroom.

We rarely need AC but during high pollen season and on high pollen days, it’s better than dealing with the allergies.

My cousin sent this to me recently from California about the high price of natural gas:
I’m on a Level plan which is 1/12 payments averaged from last years total. I don’t use my house heater since we like our bedrooms cold. I only heat a space heater for about four hours to take off the edge of the cold on days I stay home.

I remember that I spent a day and night at my aunt & uncles place after the 1994 Northridge earthquake that happened in January.
I discovered they do not use HEAT. I was freezing!
In the summer they did not use air conditioning as my uncle use to say that the ocean air will come in around 3:30pm.
All I know was it took at least till 6pm before it cooled things down when I would visit! I stood in front of the fan the whole time during the summer!

The writer will next do an article on how to properly saute bugs for dinner.
