No, the MAY serve ten years. But they do not get a “ten year term”. They serve at the pleasure of the President, but may not EXCEED ten years. They are a mere head of a minor bureau inside the DOJ. They are not independent of the Chief Executive sitting in the White House and serve at his pleasure.
A President can fire and replace him with no reason needed.
