On twitter and tiktok over the past few weeks, scores of users have become alarmed about the uncomfortable coziness between the natural-food-and-body community and white-power and militant-right online spaces—the “crunchy-to-alt-right pipeline.”
Crunchy, coined as a pop-culture reference to granola, has come to refer to a wide variety of cultural practices, including avoiding additives and food dyes, declining or spacing out childhood vaccinations beyond what pediatricians recommend, and more extreme actions in pursuit of health, independence, and purity. Back-to-the-land living and alternative medicine are hallmarks of “crunch.” Much of this subculture is benign, a declaration of anti-modernism or slow living. But this largely white cultural space shares some preoccupations with right-wing organizations, which have used it for recruitment.

Issues common to these groups accorded with ideas of purity, an interest in survivalism, and a deep distrust of the government. To be sure, the meaning of each of these issues would have been different to activists of different political persuasions, even in the same communities. Homeschooling, for instance, could be used in the white-power movement and as part of an intentional community or cult on the left. Midwifery might be powered by anti-feminism and strict gender divides on the right, or by women’s liberation and ideas of empowerment on the left....
Another part of the Venn diagram is anti-fluoridation, the movement to oppose the government’s addition of fluoride to drinking water to reduce dental decay. This cause was taken up from an individual-rights perspective by libertarians...Itt was also treated by members of the right-wing John Birch Society as a communist conspiracy to undermine American public health...Anti-fluoridation was also taken up by a former executive director of the Sierra Club, among other environmentalists who argued that fluoride was a risk to ecosystems and a pollutant.

As for fluoride...
There are a lot of posters on FR that happily post things that would have been far-left opinions a decade ago.
The group that believes our military is an evil force of global oppression.
Another group that wants a Putin style regime with the suppression of free speech and other basic rights.
didn’t read the article, but I agree that america first and extreme leftists have some common values and we should be working together. Mistrust of big banks, the fed. reserve, mistrust of the MIC, traditionally liberal values like free speech, preventing corporations and globalists from controlling our food supply and medical experiments that they force us to take. It’s a message that many on here will not want to hear, but there is common ground to be found. We are in a war with globalists, neoCONs, communists, satanists, the MIC, out of control corporations, the NWO and one-worlders.
They will do anything they can to divide us and prevent us from opposing their satanic vision for the world. Trump exposed them all, and that is why they hate him with a fiery passion.
nobody opposes our military! We opposed globohomo faggot rogue obama generals who commit treason with china! We opposed meaningless wars on the other side of the world while our own border goes undefended! We oppose the trillions of dollars wasted and pilfered by the MIC. capiche?
Our teeth do not require fluoride. They can use it, it does help enamel to endure higher acid content, but it makes teeth and bones brittle and we swallow all of what does not embed into teeth, to potentially harm other parts of our bodies, as fluoride is not even considered a necessary trace mineral, of consequence.
In a way, it’s like finding out uranium could somehow prevent ear wax buildup, so we should bathe our heads in uranium.
We don’t even use forms of fluoride that work well to protect teeth beyond 1.5 hours. Then, even that coating on our teeth goes into our gut.
There are forms of fluoride that can last up to 15 hours on our teeth, to provide the protection claimed of normal toothpastes. There are also non-fluoridated toothpastes that can essentially fill in some lost enamel locations, even to the point of blocking now exposed nerves without using any pain killing agent.
I chuckle whenever someone describes communism as “left” and fascism as “right”. They’re the exact same thing! They only differ in who they want to murder. They’re both on the far totalitarian end of the scale. The reason the granola crowd and what the author calls the “alt right” crowd have something in common is that they both want to be left alone, they’re on the anarchy end.
You are almost entirely correct. Two points to offer:
* It probably goes deeper into the officer corps, more than we’d like to admit
* “Evil force for oppression” is probably closer to the truth than only “useless wars” (especially in the last 75 years); that is the saddest fact of all, given the thousands of great men who enlisted and even died
Fascism and Communism are two rabid dogs fighting over the same bone.
That’s because there’s more in common between statists of both flavors than they think. Commies and Nazis shared ideologies. Total government control over your life and no individual freedom. Nothing outside the state. Using the term Far Right is gaslighting.
A lot of Nazis started as Bolsheviks, Judge Freisler being the most prominent example.
Mussolini was a hardcore socialist, before he became a Fascist.
Many of the original German Antifa, eventually joined the SA and SS, once Hitler came to power.
