Why would you not take NAD+ directly instead of a precursor? I purchased a supply of it but haven’t started taking yet.

the great Dr. Mercola advocated this supplement for us elderly folks as beneficial for dna repair, cancer prevention, possible help with ‘long covid’, spike protein damage, etc., explaining it’s potential benefits for cell health in detail with a specialist researcher into NAD+ on one of his many podcasts.
i started about half a year ago. so far so good.
