Such vast possessions and such successful colonization, which took Russia to the Pacific Ocean, created in the Russian authorities past and present a consciousness typical of the metropolis. Therefore, any secession of former colonies such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, and Ukraine was painful for the imperial consciousness of the Russian authorities.

To feel right, the Russian Federation uses the traditional Soviet narrative, or superiority complex. In 1936, French writer André Gide, a future Nobel Prize laureate who visited the USSR, was astonished to learn that Soviet citizens were convinced “that resolutely everything abroad and in all fields is considerably worse than in the USSR.”
André Gide characterized this system of views as the “superiority complex,” introduced in psychology by Sigmund Freud’s disciple Alfred Adler. Adler regarded the “superiority complex” as the flip side of the “inferiority complex.”
Soviet writer Ilya Ehrenburg expressed this dialectic as follows: “Continuous talk about one’s superiority is associated with groveling before foreigners – these are various manifestations of the same inferiority complex.”
Although the USSR preached internationalism, the imperial language invented the superiority of the Soviet nation over the West and generally over the opponents of socialist ideology. The collapse of the USSR did not invalidate the “superiority complex,” for such a worldview fits perfectly with the imperial model of Russia’s existence.
The borders of Europe have moved back and forth for a thousand years.
The EU has armies, money, and nuear weapons.
Let the EU fight for the Ukraine if it wants. It is not America’s role to help the EU colonize the Ukraine.
Aren’t the Rooskies largely decendents of the Vikings?
Shouldn’t all of the Slavs be under the control of the Norwegian and Swedish Crowns? [Forget the Mongols....]
Russia was a colony from Ukraine not the other way,
“Therefore, any secession of former colonies such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, and Ukraine was painful for the imperial consciousness of the Russian authorities.”

Would the secession of The South (or any region of the US) be ‘painful to the imperial consciousness of US authorities’”?
It is all absolute bull crap. Everyone in Russia was glad to see them gone.
The problem emerged when the leadership of these countries was highjacked by foreign interests who weaponized them against new democratic Russia.
Hence you have Putin and the advocacy of Soviet revanchism.
>> Let the EU fight for the Ukraine if it wants. It is not America’s role to help the EU colonize the Ukraine.
Yep. That. Exactly.
No it is NOT.
Rurik was the prince of Novgorod. His successor, Oleg, took Kiev and formed the Kievan Rus,
Ruriks first base was at Ladoga and not Novgorod for a short time.
In 1993 or 94 Nixon predicted this would happen.
He said that we had a chance to bring a free capitalist society to Russia and that would prove to the world that such a society works.
BJ Klintoon started the march to where we are now and it has been downhill every since.
>> This is what’s coming for the Kremlin Gremlin.
In your wanking hollywood deepfake dreams.
Zzzzellinskyyy may, on the other hand, actually taste that wood.
We shall see.
Not really.
The Rus were Varangians warrior clan who became rulers of the east Slavs in 800 AD. But they assimilated quickly so that within generations they spoke East slavic and had slavic names.
Present day “Russians” have large amounts of Finno Ugric and Baltuc Gene’s with some Varangian and Turco Mongol
“He said that we had a chance to bring a free capitalist society to Russia and that would prove to the world that such a society works.
BJ Klintoon started the march to where we are now and it has been downhill every since.”
Correct. Clinton wasted that opportunity and we ended up with Pooptin.
9/11 also was because Clinton didn’t pull out troops from Saudi Arabia in the 90s
I love how you zeepers all think that memes win wars. Putin will crash your heads in the end of the day.
Just like Khrushchev buried us?
Who “us”?
Perhaps your history is a bit rusty.
Soviet First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev addressing Western ambassadors at a reception at the Polish embassy in Moscow on November 18, 1956: “Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!”
Khruschev was Ukrainian by the way. Who said he was wrong?
Nice try, but Khrushchev was a Russian. His parents didn’t move to Ukraine until he was 14.
Btw, as he was referring to the victory of communism over capitalism, it history who said that he was wrong.
You have interesting ways to identify nationalities.
Regarding socialism versus socialism I find your remark hilarious.
Capitalism have probably won in Russia, but I wouldn’t say socialism lost in the West.
